So I’m still healing from the back surgery, it’s going well. Itching to get back to horses.

Have been thinking as I try to sit and not hurt the hole in my back while I sit and it has brought up a line that was said to me one day. “Be a good passenger”

So our job is to help make the horse the best he can be for us. Horses are amazing creatures and can do so many things. We need to be a good passenger to help them along. We need to be balanced and quiet in our seat and hands. Body positioning is so important to being able to do this. So stick with it! Be a good passenger.

I then once had a guy ride one of my horses in the musical ride and I asked him after how it went. He said it was terrible, the horse was all over the place. So I went back and tried to figure out where I went wrong with that horse. A few weeks later the same guy came to me and said, wow, I’m sorry, I was wrong. He said that he had watched me and seen how quiet I was with me body and hands. He then re evaluated his riding and learned that when he was quiet, a good passenger, the horse was then one of the best he’d ever been on. So keep digging, keep learning. We can always improve and tough horses will make us better.

This is interesting, and seems to be quite relevant to some of the work we’ve been doing.

This weekend I was lucky enough to work with some great teams of horses and riders on Saturday during the obstacle workshop. We were able to make some improvements and get through some firsts. Was really great to work together and instil some problem solving within these teammates.

Today I was able to try my hand at judging the cowboy obstacle challenge at SMS Ranch. Was great to see the teammates put all those things into use. I was very proud of all of the competitors for their efforts and successes.

Looking forward to working with you all more as we go forward.

Hi all, so I’m easing into this social media business thing...

I have sent invites to those of you currently in my lesson program, happy to have you all by the way.

I don’t know what I’m gonna put on this thing, likely some interesting links I may find with my thoughts on them perhaps...you might learn something, might laugh, might just give you something else to poke fun at me about.

I’m good with it all. Let’s see how it goes and go from there, your feedback is welcomed and hopefully will help me to put things on here people wanna see.

Thanks all,

Dane
