🚨If you require a veterinarian for any reason while we are closed, call 1-778-766-4018

You will have the option to book a virtual vet appointment; the virtual vet can prescribe medications (available for pick up at the animal hospital - even when closed! or one of the islands human pharmacies). The virtual vet can help walk you through what to do. In some cases, it may be recommended for your pet to leave the islands for in-person help.

🕊If your pet requires euthanasia while we are closed, please call 1-778-766-4018. Do not wait until we are open.

💊Make sure you are fully stocked with your pets’ routine medications and flea treatments

*Ranch Feeds will be open, but legally they CAN NOT refill medications*

Congrats to Dr. Heather! 🦄

Dr. Heather will be back on island again this summer, August 4-7th visiting our equine patients. Haida Gwaii Horse People please let us know if you are wanting an appointment.

Congrats to Heather Jay Pedersen DVM, one of our new ABVP Diplomates in Equine Practice.

Dr Pedersen started her career as a veterinary technician and worked in equine neonatal ICU in Kentucky and New Zealand before graduating from Massey veterinary school in New Zealand in 2012. She Completed a fellowship in Equine internal medicine in Kentucky and an internship in Equine practice in Edmonton Alberta. She owns an ambulatory practice in Kamloops, BC. Dr. Pedersen is passionate about equine dentistry and internal medicine.

Tuesday - Friday 9:30am - 3pm
Closed every Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Closed all holidays

In September 2024 - our hours changed to 9:30am-3pm
In March 2023 - in-person afterhours (excluding euthanasia) ended

*If your pet has been ill for a while and you think your pet needs to see the vet, DO NOT wait until after 12pm to call and expect to be seen the same day.

*If you think your pet needs to see the vet or you require a prescription refill, do not email or send a facebook message and expect a response within 24-72 hours. ALWAYS CALL if you need immediate help.

Remember, we are the only animal hospital on the islands and there is ONLY ONE doctor working at a time. Routine appointments typically book 3+ weeks in advance (much like an appointment for yourself with your doctor)

As an extremely small team we work very hard to provide veterinary services to our remote islands. We understand that the hours we are "open" might not work for everyone. Our staff work 9+ hours every day without a break; most days going without lunch. Some staff work 7 days a week. So please, choose kindness.💜
