6-8 weeks is how long it takes for an average horse to adjust to a new diet, and we hate to say it, but in 6-8 weeks it's going to be pretty cold in most places in Canada. 🥶

So even though we have some warm fall days immediately ahead, here are some important nutrition considerations to start thinking of now:

➡️ Pasture changes - beware that late fall pasture for those who are prone to laminitis, as cautious as you are in the spring!

➡️ Forage changes - so begins the transition to a mostly hay diet. This means it's also time to evaluate if your horse is receiving proper nutrient top ups in their feed.

➡️ Body condition scoring - make sure you get your hands on your horses as their long coats begin to grow in. Visually assessing BCS often has owners playing a bit of catch up in condition come winter!
