Today we lost a very important reptile to us, Hank, the bearded dragon who inspired us to start Sleeping Giant Exotics.

We retired Hank from birthdays around 3 years ago. He spent the last of his days pampered, hand fed and well loved.

We will miss you forever, Hank. ❤️

Our team was proud to be at Lakehead University's Block Party and Career Fair today. Welcoming Thunderwolves were Constable Blain Joynson, Sergeant Tyrvainen from the Emergency Task Unit, and Detective Constable Hagstrom and Trace from the Cyber Crime Unit. They also got to meet Beckett, a Carpet Python from Sleeping Giant Exotics.

We love hearing your feedback!

Happy World Lizard Day!
Lizards come in wide range of sizes, some are larger than us and others can curl up and take a nap on our fingernail. They are found on all continents except for Antarctica. They have evolved to live in many habitats on earth, from lush rainforests to oppressive deserts. Some prefer to live a fossorial life, some take to the trees, some live among the rocks, some even take to the air, and one species prefers the sea. Some lizards prefer to be ignored and adopt cryptic patters to blend in, while others chose bright colors and special signals like a dewlap, yo stand out and get noticed, especially when it comes to attracting a mate. Some lizards are fast and some are slow, and some can even walk on water! Lizards reply an amazing range of offensive and defensive adaptation. Some have venom, some can move each eye independently (offering 360 degree vision), Some can fire out a sticky, projectile tongue over a great distance, while others shoot blood, and others have break away tails that can regrow! Some are smooth, some are rough, and others are covered in a wide range of defensive armor, from spikes to chainmail. Some climb walls and even appear to defy gravity, by walking upside down, while others can run across the shifting sands. Some lay eggs, some give birth to live young, and females can reproduce without the need of a male. We can certainly go on, but if this biodiversity hasn't impressed you yet, we don't know what will. But if you are like us, you certainly appreciate the vast diversity of lizard life.
