New Hope Dog Rescue *Thunder Bay*

New Hope Dog Rescue *Thunder Bay* New Hope Dog Rescue is a not for profit, volunteer run organization located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Adoptable does not mean perfect.

Named for Hope, a homeless, injured dog rescued from the City of Thunder Bay Animal Services the day she was
about to be euthanized, New Hope Dog Rescue was formed in August 2006. New Hope Dog Rescue will provide care and compassion in a safe environment, daily care and any necessary medical treatment for all dogs in our rescue. Without exception, all adult dogs will be spayed or neutered prior to

adoption. Puppies too young to be altered will be adopted on strict spay/neuter contracts. New Hope Dog Rescue will make every effort to treat dogs that are considered "not adoptable" to allow them to transform into dogs ready for forever homes. Sick, injured, traumatized, infant or undersocalized dogs will receive medical treatment, training and/or loving foster care to allow them to become healthy animals ready for a forever home. Adoptable dogs may be blind, deaf, disfigured or disabled. While many of our dogs are not perfect, they are all loving animals who have found themselves looking for a perfect new home. New Hope Dog Rescue relies on donations to fund our rescue efforts. If you would like to support us financially, please use our paypal button
that you can find located at the bottom of each page. We thank you for your generosity. All of our dogs live in foster care. We do not have a shelter environment.

BONNIE IS HOME — AND SHE’S GOING TO BE OKAY!

I am absolutely thrilled to share the happiest update! Bonnie survived her surgery and is now HOME, safe and resting! This sweet girl has been through so much, but she’s a fighter and today, she gets to heal surrounded by love.

I’ve included a photo of her settling in, along with the clinic invoice, so you can see just how enormous the cost of her life‑saving care was. But here’s the best part:

Because of YOU , every single donation, every share, every bit of kindness the bill is PAID.

You didn’t just donate.
You saved a life.
You gave a family hope when they were terrified and helpless.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and sent love. Bonnie is alive today because this community showed up for her.

UPDATE ON BONNIE — PLEASE KEEP HER IN YOUR HEART TODAY

I want to share something truly incredible. Thanks to the overwhelming kindness of this community, we raised $1,385 for Bonnie’s emergency surgery. And then, in an act of pure compassion, Paws for Love Rescue stepped in and topped it up with an additional $2,000.

Because of all of you, Bonnie is at the clinic this morning and heading into surgery. She looks tired and weak, but she’s in good hands and she has an entire community behind her.

Let’s all send her every bit of strength, hope, and healing energy we can. She needs it.

To everyone who donated, shared, or simply cared, THANK YOU.

You didn’t just help a dog; you gave a family hope when they had none. Your kindness is the reason Bonnie is getting this chance at life.

Friends, I’m reaching out with an urgent plea. Bonnie, a beautiful Golden Retriever, has been diagnosed with pyometra, a fast‑moving, life‑threatening infection. Without surgery, she won’t survive.

Her owner loves her deeply, but simply cannot afford the $4,000 cost. This isn’t one of our rescue dogs, but compassion doesn’t stop at our own doors. When an animal is in danger and someone asks for help, we try to step in however we can.

If anyone is able to donate, no matter the amount it will go directly toward Bonnie’s surgery.

E‑transfers can be sent to:
[email protected]
I will forward all funds directly to the clinic.

Thank you, as always, for being a community that shows up when an animal needs a lifeline. Your kindness truly saves lives. ❤️

Thank you, everyone. Truly.

When we put out the call for help for an unknown individual caring for 21 dogs with no food, our community didn’t hesitate for a second. You showed up with compassion, generosity, and urgency and because of you, we were able to gather 1,000 pounds of donated dog food to make sure those dogs don’t go hungry.

Your kindness is the reason these animals will have full bellies and a bit of comfort in a very uncertain situation. We are deeply grateful for every single person who donated, shared the post, or reached out wanting to help.

The food is now on its way, and we will share an update as soon as it’s delivered all thanks to you.

Your support changes lives, and today you proved it again.

URGENT HELP NEEDED THIS EASTER WEEKEND

We’re desperately looking for someone travelling from Mississauga toward the Elliot Lake / Bruce Mines area who can deliver donated dog food to a man caring for 21 rescue dogs. He is out of food and truly struggling. He has been doing everything he can to care for them, but he’s now in a critical spot and needs support immediately.

New Hope is hoping to bring some of these dogs into care, but we need fosters and transport before we can move them. Right now, getting food to them is the most urgent priority.

If you’re travelling north this Easter weekend or even partway please reach out to Val 807 624-8686

A single ride could mean everything for these dogs.

Please share. Woof thanks!!

LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME
2‑Year‑Old Survivor Still Waiting After a Full Year in Rescue

This incredible 2‑year‑old girl has been with us for a full year, and she’s more than ready for a home of her own. Her story is heartbreaking, but her spirit is amazing.

She was rescued from a drug house, where she was the only female dog and was found caring for 11 puppies. Despite everything she endured, she has shown nothing but resilience, gentleness, and a deep desire to bond with people. She is a Mastiff–Malinois mix,
and she carries the best traits of both; loyal, intelligent, affectionate, and eager to please.

Over the past year in rescue, Thea has learned how to trust, how to relax, and how to enjoy the simple comforts she never had before. Now she needs the stability of a forever home where she can continue to flourish.

After everything she survived, she deserves a family who will show her what real love feels like.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please send us a message, text/call Val 807 624-8686 or fill out our application.

Sharing this post helps more than you know.

Today we said goodbye to our sweet Daisy.

Four years ago, in April 2022, we rescued Daisy and her mom Winnie from an Amish puppy mill, two gentle souls who had spent their entire lives being bred, never knowing comfort, safety, or love. They arrived scared, unsure, and carrying the weight of years of neglect. But they also arrived with hope.

Daisy’s mom passed away in 2024, and now our brave girl has joined her. Losing them both has been heartbreaking, but we take comfort in knowing that their final years were filled with the love and dignity they were denied for so long.

Thanks to Daisy's foster mom Rebecca Maw, Daisy blossomed in ways we’ll never forget. She learned what it meant to have a soft bed, a warm home, and family who adored her. She discovered toys, sunshine naps, miles of trails to run and the joy of simply being a dog; something she never had the chance to experience before.

Sadly, the years of overbreeding took a toll on her body. Daisy developed ovarian cancer, a consequence of the life she was forced to endure before rescue. Despite all the care and love we could give, she passed peacefully, surrounded by her foster family.

We are devastated, but also deeply grateful. Grateful that Daisy and her mom spent their final chapters as cherished family members, not numbers in a cage. Grateful that they left this world knowing love, safety, and gentleness.

If their story reminds us of anything, it’s this: puppy mills cause real suffering, and the dogs who survive them carry those scars forever. Please adopt, don't shop and help raise awareness so fewer animals endure what Daisy and Winnie did.

Run free, sweet Daisy. You’re with your mom again. You were loved beyond measure, and you will be missed more than words can express.
