Hi there, my name is Lauren, and I help Jesse in looking after your furry friends. 😄

Currently I work at ServiceOntario, and previously I had worked at one of Thunder Bay's local veterinary clinics for 4 years. 🐾

I love anything artistic; I can usually be found drawing, writing, or playing drums. I also enjoy playing most sports, especially hockey and snowboarding. 🎵🏒

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and your pets! 💙

During the holidays, dogs are 4 times more likely to get into chocolate. Whether they’ve eaten a little or a lot. it’s important to call Pet Poison Helpline and your veterinarian (or Smart.Vet if your vet is closed) as soon as possible to determine the best course of action. The type of chocolate and your dog’s size has a major impact on what you’ll need to do, but ALWAYS call pet poison control to get professional advice.

Symptoms of theobromine poisoning (also called chocolate or cocoa poisoning) include: vomiting and diarrhea, excess thirst and urination, tremors and muscle spasms, restlessness, panting, and seizures. Dark and baking chocolate, which have the highest concentration of cocoa, are the most dangerous, followed by semi-sweet and milk chocolate.

The best thing you can do for your pets is keep chocolate and baked goods including chocolate well out of your pup’s reach… including wrapped gifts under the tree! 🎁

We will ensure to provide updates to the public regarding the reopening of our low-cost public spay and neuter program. In the mean time - our team appreciates your patience, understanding, and continued support.

Over the last several months, our Hospital has accepted a significant number of new clients to our roster. After careful consideration, our management team has decided to PAUSE our New Client Application until at least Fall 2024, allowing us to establish VCPRs with all newly accepted clients and ensure our patients are receiving the care they need in a timely manner.

Please note that acceptances for our May intake have not yet gone out. If accepted, you will receive an email in 1-2 weeks confirming your acceptance and advising of next steps.

If you have been accepted in previous months, please ensure to book your pet(s)'s first appointment within 6 months of acceptance, otherwise your file will be closed and you will need to apply again.

Thank you to all those who tried to apply for their patience and understanding. With the strain on veterinary services the demand was extremely overwhelming. If you are still in need of a veterinarian, we suggest reaching out to other veterinary facilities in Thunder Bay and the surrounding region on their protocols for accepting new patients. You can also seek telemedicine from services like Smart.Vet and Vetster Veterinarians & Technicians (though not associated with our clinic).

Any new updates will be communicated via social media, on our website, and on our main phone greeting.
