We are located in a stand alone facility, (Grooming ONLY). We offer MOST pets 1 hour service. We have the most competitive prices in Thornhill. I have 23+ years experience, serving the Thornhill and Richmond Hill areas for the last 16 years. The shop is owner operated so no seeing a different face each time you bring your pet in.

Well this morning Ziggy a long coated cat, that I have been shaving into the lion cut, for many years arrived for his groom

As time has progressed Ziggy has become more and more aggresive. When he was last in, I advised his owner, (who has always understood how difficult Ziggy can be), that he would need to be sedated going forward.

She gave him as recommended by her vet 200 mg of Gabapentin 2 hours pre groom. I was able to get 2 blade widths down his back and around his mane trimmed.

That is when the action started. While attempting to get the cat muzzle on him Ziggy managed with his claws to nail me 5 times. I could NOT get the muzzle on. So unfortunately Ziggy went home looking rather silly.

I suggested she speak to the vet that perhaps another medication may be more effective but at this point the prospect of grooming him for me has come to an end, in his current attitude.

She then wanted to pay me for the groom. I advised her that it has always been my policy, (I am now into year 34 of grooming), that if I don't complete the job, I don't get compensated.

Hopefully we can find a solution that will allow Ziggy to get groomed. I have in yhe past while working at a clinic had to groom cats that were completely sedated by the vets. But that is not a longer term viable solution, not only for the health of the cat, but also for the cost, ($3 - 500) for the sedation.

The shop will be closed as of Sat 02 Aug until Thurs 07 Aug. I am heading out on a motorcycle trip including Algonquin Park.

I will as always answer calls and texts each evening qhile I am away to book appointments.
