Meet Our Judge: Katie Songer | Farmfair International 2025

We’re proud to officially welcome Katie Songer to the Farmfair International judge’s panel! With a wealth of experience in the livestock industry and a deep commitment to excellence, Katie brings a sharp eye and a respected voice to the show ring.

About Katie Songer:

Katie grew up on Lucky Springs Farms, a mixed family farm established in 1951 near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. She is the third generation to raise cattle in central Alberta and has been involved in the beef industry for more than 30 years, with a focus on seedstock production. Katie has judged nearly every major show in Canada, including Manitoba Ag-Ex, Lloydminster Stockade Round-Up, Farmfair International, the Supreme Show at Canadian Western Agribition, and numerous regional and junior events.

The herd at Lucky Springs is composed of 120 head of Polled Hereford, Maine-Anjou composite, and club calf females, with an emphasis on marketing breeding stock, show steers, semen, embryos, and commercial recipient females for transplant programs. While the operation has earned many championship banners, its focus remains on producing functional cattle that balance calving ease, do-ability, structure, and carcass traits.

Katie is also an accomplished photographer, videographer, and communications strategist. She continues to farm with her family while representing the voice of Alberta’s 18,000 cattle producers as Communications Manager with Alberta Beef Producers.

We’re thrilled to have Katie join us in Edmonton this November, and we know she’ll bring insight, integrity, and enthusiasm to this year’s show.
