Cat Nurse Jocie Feline Wellbeing and Behaviour Advisor
Online Consultation Service I graduated from the Old's College AHT program in 2007.

Since then I have been a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) with the ABVMA and the ABVTA. For four years I worked as a shelter RVT caring for many cats/kittens and fostering orphaned (often new born) kittens. I achieved my Silver Level Low Stress Handling certification in 2016, and my Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional certification in 2022. In 2023 I completed my 2 year certification, wit

h distinction, in Advanced Behaviour for Veterinary Professionals through the International Society of Feline Medicine. My own cats have also given me lots of day-to-day experience managing their diabetes, asthma, inter-cat conflicts, and quirky personalities.

Did you know that high blood pressure (hypertension) is a silent stalker in our senior cats? 🐈 Many cats show no signs at all, and sudden blindness is often the first sign that caregivers notice.

To help catch hypertension early, look out for these subtle signs in your cat and speak to your vet team about any concerns:

🐾 Sleeping more
🐾 Acting withdrawn
🐾 Bumping into things
🐾 Changes in the eyes, such as bleeding
🐾 Signs from other diseases, like weight loss and hyperactivity in cats with hyperthyroidism

🏥 Regular veterinary visits, especially for senior cats, mean blood pressure can be checked and monitored before it climbs too high. Find out more 👉 https://icatcare.org/articles/hypertension-in-cats
