A dog’s nails aren’t just cosmetic — when they get too long, they can change the way a dog walks, place pressure on their toes and joints, and lead to pain, splitting, snagging, and even long-term posture issues. Keeping nails properly trimmed helps dogs move comfortably and safely.

Most dogs need their nails trimmed every 3–6 weeks, depending on their activity level, age, and how quickly their nails grow. Dogs that regularly walk on pavement may naturally wear their nails down more, while indoor or less active dogs often require trims more frequently.

Meet Flora 🌸🐾

Flora is a Portuguese Water Dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She lives for snuggles, loves meeting new people, and has a funny little habit of stealing clothes just to proudly display them out in the yard.

She’s been having fun learning scent work, and while running around the show ring is still something she’s figuring out, mom has big dreams of Champion titles in her future.

This August, Flora will be taking on her very first water trial — and she’s determined to make her mom proud and be the very best girl. 💕
