Can we really get the benefits of meditation while we sleep and dream? Apparently yes!!! I had NO idea. I was excited to reach to Jivasu to chat more about this but MY EGO almost stopped me from making this video and I learned a very valuable lesson.

Jivasu who was born and raised in India, studied Mind/Body medicine at Harvard Medical School and his work focuses on the bio-psychological architecture of what he calls the “natural self” which lead him to build a framework titled “Naturality,” which explores the scientific basis of energy, consciousness, complete health, and spirituality. (taken from his website) We definitely talk about why you should meditate while you sleep, and how to get into that meditation but we also dive deeper into the ego and specifically why my ego almost stopped me from creating this video.

Pick up Jivasu's book 'Naturality: Living according to our nature, walking our own path' - https://www.amazon.com/Naturality-Jivasu/dp/1460282825/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=naturality+jivasu&qid=1620048257

What a crazy time we are in.

I know a lot of you, and absolutely including myself, have had some extreme up and downs with mental health during this last year so I had a chat with Mark Brand talking all about Navigating Your Mental Health During A Pandemic.

If you are fighting this battle in silence, thats ok. I made this video for you. 🖤

Who is Mark Brand? Check the first comment for his bio.

So this is what a nervous father must feel like.

I sit here this morning, watching media coverage as hurricane Irma rips apart St. Maarten. A beautiful island in the Caribbean. An island where my family owns timeshares, a place that has been home to our family vacations for twenty years, and the beach that roots a tree with my dads name on it. That very tree where we put his ashes in the ground.

What I’m currently witnessing online is unbelievable. The power of Irma might sweep away our family timeshare. Will my dads tree survive? Most likely not. His ashes will now be spread well over the entire area of the island. But we can always find a new vacation spot and it’s where my dad wanted to be anyways.

As I think of all those in St. Maarten right now, I can’t help but sit here in utter sadness, worrying about what is on it’s way to my friends in Haiti. There is little to no safe ground for them. A small rainstorm is even a problem.

I’ve noted before that I’m not a religious person, but I’m hoping you can all send a good vibe of hope to a country that has brought so much life into mine. I owe a lot to the people of Haiti and I’m hoping for the best outcome possible but I do fear the worst.

I snapped this photo back in 2014 and have no idea how they would even prepare themselves for this. It hurts that I can’t be there right now helping all these kids and keeping them calm. I sit her nervously thinking about the little girl who changed my life, and if she has somehow made it to higher and safe ground.

I hope you can take these words and this image and realize everything can change in the blink of an eye. Don’t waste time doing things you don’t want to do with people you don’t want to do it with. Act now. Live now. And most of all, love now.

Sending LOVE to all the neo-Nazis in the world right now.

Yes, you read the headline correctly, but your initial reaction of confusion and anger, are far from what you should think.

I couldn’t help but feel a sense of despair scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed this morning. No question, that what is happening right now in Charlottesville, Virginia, marks a sad time in history for our humanity. The display of hatred and violence, witnessed by us all over the last 24 hours, needs to stop. And it starts with us….. because sadly, we are part of the problem.

I read the words of numerous individuals pushing hate this morning. Over and over. Please, I ask you to stop spreading the violent images online. I ask you to stop posting your negative words. Stop with the threats and insults to those involved. I understand that you are upset, as am I, but lashing out negatively, is only filling others with hate. It’s not doing any good. You are not "raising awareness." Rather you're proving that, you too, are filled with hate.

Hate just spreads more hate. Chose love. Chose to love today. Chose to love your neighbour. And chose to spread love. You’ll be surprised at how contagious it actually is. We are all equal. No matter our skin color or beliefs. A person who thinks otherwise, is someone, who in my opinion, lacks love.

I know this post may not be received in the way I intended by some, but let’s use social media to spread joy and not evil. Let’s fill each others minds with good. And let’s live in the world we all strive for.

I said to send love to the neo-Nazis right now, because, minds that are filled with that much hate, are the ones that need it most. Love can do wonders, if you just give it a chance.

False alarm. We'll have to cancel tonight's talk with Jed. I'll be back next week with another guest who I will announce in a couple of days.

A sense of frustration quickly took control of my body as I yet again failed to capture the Caribbean sunset with my drone. This time it was mindless children enthusiastically playing on and jumping off the pier I needed for my shot. Did they not know I only had so many days left on the island?

But as my blood boiled, I had a seat in hope that they would soon leave so I could get the footage I needed. And then I noticed something…… I noticed children enthusiastically playing on and jumping off the pier. Having fun. Laughing. And ultimately… being kids. As their parents watched from the beach, they tried to jump farther into the water each time. They attempted front flips and failed miserably. They grinned from ear to ear. I didn’t get my drone footage that day, but what I did get was a glimpse of what things used to be like. A time where fun outweighed any thought of future success.

A passerby told me that they were a local family that comes to the pier regularly. They don’t have much and live in a one bedroom home. But from what I witnessed that evening, they were the richest family on the island. They taught me a lot that night.

I fall into the trap way too often of putting every second, every minute, and every hour of my day working towards a bright and successful future. What I continue to forget, is that I was once those kids. I was once that child smiling from ear to ear jumping off of a pier with my brother. Trying to impress my parents as my Dad rated our dives. But now I’m not. I’m focused solely on success and spending time strategizing my every move. Somewhere we found a culture where the word “hustle” took over the word “fun.”

Sure, your hustle can be fun, but I worry that our “influencers” out there, are damaging our young minds in believing that if they don’t put in 18 hours of work per day that they are worthless and won’t end up with a successful future. Work hard, but get your rest. Hard work is important but so is sleep. A rested soul can do more in two hours than a tired mind can in 18.

I’m so glad I captured this image. It’s the reminder I needed to live now, and live in the moment. If you read this all the way to the end, first off, thank you for taking the time to read it, and I hope it might give you the motivation to recall what it was like to be a kid again and go out and have some fun this weekend. Yes, hard work is important but never forget to take time to do front flips of that pier. Happy Friday! :)
