🩸Could Your Dog Be a Lifesaver? 🐾If we just described your furry best friend, your dog may be eligible to become a canine blood donor!

Just like humans, dogs need blood transfusions during emergencies, surgeries, and severe illnesses. A single donation from your pup can help save lives and give another pet a second chance.

If your dog meets these criteria and you’d like to learn more about having them donate blood, please let us know! You can call/text us at (204)467-2481 or email us at [email protected] if you're interested. ❤️🐶

🦷 What is Tooth Resorption? 🐾Take a look at this X-ray! It shows a condition called tooth resorption, which occurs when the body's cells start breaking down and absorbing the structure of a tooth, starting from the inside or root level.

What you should know:

🦷It's common (especially in cats!): Up to 60% of cats over the age of six, and many dogs, too, will experience tooth resorption at some point in their lives.

🦷It can be painful: Because it exposes sensitive nerve endings, it can cause severe discomfort, even if pets try their best to hide it.

🦷X-rays are essential: As you can see in the photo, the damage often happens beneath the gumline, meaning dental X-rays are crucial for detecting it early!

Signs to look out for:

🐾Head shaking, jaw tremors, or tilting the head while eating

🐾Dropping food or preferring soft food over kibble

🐾Pawing at the mouth or sudden changes in chewing habits

🐾Red, inflamed, or bleeding gums around specific teeth

If you notice any of these signs, or if it’s been a while since your pet's last dental exam, give us a call! Catching dental issues early helps keep your furry family members happy, healthy, and pain-free. ❤️

Behind the scenes of a safe surgery! 🏥✨Ever wonder why we require pre-anesthetic bloodwork before dental procedures or surgeries?

Even if your furry family member seems to feels great, internal organs like the liver and kidneys need to be functioning normally to safely process anesthetic medications. Bloodwork gives us a quick, essential "all clear" before we begin.

Without pre-anesthetic testing, hidden conditions like early organ dysfunction, anemia, or low blood platelets could go unnoticed. This can increase the risk of poor drug metabolism, delayed recovery, or excessive bleeding during a procedure. Pets are very good at hiding pain and disease.

Testing beforehand allows us to customize the safety protocol specifically for your pet! Have questions about an upcoming procedure? Give our team a call! 🐶🐱
