Just like dogs, cats cannot sweat effectively enough to cool their bodies down and are more susceptible to overheating. Take a look at some of the common signs your cat may be suffering from heatstroke. If you think your cat is suffering from heatstroke, call their veterinarian or your nearest veterinary emergency hospital right away.

West Coast Vet Services is pleased to announce that they will be sharing on call services with Animal Health Centre in Corner Brook. If you have an after hours emergency please contact Vet Triage. Vet Triage will assess your pet via video call and if urgent medical attention is needed you will be directed to the hospital on call. There will be no on call coverage on Sunday.

Today is National Pet Fire Safety Day, and it’s the perfect reminder to make sure your home is as safe as possible for your pets. While we can’t teach them how to stop, drop, and roll, we can take proactive steps to prevent accidents before they happen.

Here are 4 simple ways to protect your pets today:

🔥 Keep flames out of reach: Always watch over flickering candles and never leave them unattended around curious tails.
🔌 Secure the tech: Hide loose wires and secure all lamps so they can't be knocked over during a severe case of the zoomies.
📦 Store flammable items safely: Keep matches, lighters, and aerosol cans safely locked away and out of reach.
🚪 Plan their space: When you aren't home, keep your pets confined to a room or space near an entry/exit point so emergency responders can find and reach them quickly.
