It’s Graduation Night!

Congrats to these amazing teams! Both the handlers and their dogs worked really hard on their foundation behaviours, enrichment activities and loose leash walking!

These sweet dogs are ready to move forward to the Smart Pup program where training focuses more on impulse control and recall foundations!

I will miss seeing you guys on Sunday evenings thank you for being such wonderful students!

Both Handlers aced their written exams as well! 😃

Puppy Adoption Event! 🐾🐶

We will have 15 Husky Mix (Labrador Special) puppies available this Thursday, February 5th starting at 5pm at .stavanger

Applications will ONLY be available in person at the event, and we will be accepting a limited number of applications. We will not be accepting any applications prior to this event.

References will be contacted during the event so please ensure they are available to speak with us.

We do not know what these puppies are mixed with and it will be hard to judge how large they will get when fully mature.

I tell my Puppy Manners Classes this all the time! So important to give direction to your dogs about what you “want” them to do versus saying “No & Stop”

Sporting with your dog can be lots of fun!

It’s important to keep in mind a few key points before engaging in sporting activities with your dog:

🐾 Proper age/maturity of the dog
🐶 dogs bones, muscles and joints aren’t ready for certain sports until later. Usually for med-large breeds it’s at least 12-18 months and for larger breeds 18-24 months may be the recommended time frame!

🐾 Vet Check your dog before starting a sport for any conditions that could prevent them from participation.

🐾 Like humans dogs need to start doing some basic conditioning exercises to prevent injury.

🐾 Have the right gear for the sport!
🐶 Properly fitted task specific harnesses, bungee/ tow lines that absorb shock

NEVER USE A REGULAR WALKING HARNESS FOR PULLING WEIGHT!

🐾 Condition your dog to the equipment and then to the specific exercises.

🐾 Start light

🐾 Monitor your dog for signs of discomfort before and after.

🐾 Never train in areas where it’s unsafe for your dog.

Activities like canicross,skijoring, dock diving, agility, weight pulling etc, can be lots of fun! Make sure that you are informed and have the appropriate tools and knowledge before trying them!

It’s never a good idea to let children treat dogs like ponies! This could result in injury to the dog, the kids or both!
