Ash is enjoying some extra cuddles with Brenna.

Regular exams and Preventative care is the key to healthy & happy life!!

Annual Veterinary Wellness Exams:

Schedule annual physical exams for adult cats.
Switch to bi-annual (every 6 months) checkups for senior cats (typically ages 8+)

This helps monitor organ function, dental health, and catch early signs of conditions like diabetes or kidney disease.

Vaccinations:

Core vaccines protect against FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) and Rabies.

Non-core vaccines (such as Feline Leukemia) may be recommended depending on your cat’s lifestyle.

Parasite Prevention:

Fleas, ticks, and heartworms require year-round prevention.

Even indoor-only cats are susceptible to parasites entering the home.

Talk to us about reliable, monthly broad-spectrum preventatives.

Nutrition & Weight Maintenance:

Keep your cat on a high-quality, vet-approved diet.

Obesity in cats can lead to diabetes, joint issues, and hepatic lipidosis, so portion control and active playtime are vital.

Dental Care: Periodontal disease is highly common in cats. Supplement daily or regular toothbrushing with routine veterinary dental cleanings.

Spaying or Neutering: This procedure provides behavioral benefits and prevents uterine infections (pyometra) as well as reproductive cancers.

Notch is in for blood work today.

We recommend annual Bloodwork!!

Early Disease Detection: Conditions like kidney or liver disease often show no outward signs until significant organ damage has occurred. Blood tests catch these issues early when they are most treatable.

Pre-Anesthetic Screening: Before any surgical procedure, vets require bloodwork to ensure your dog’s organs can properly process anesthesia and to check for hidden clotting issues.

Establishing a Baseline: Running tests while your dog is healthy helps your vet understand what is “normal” for your specific pet. This makes it easier to spot subtle deviations later in life.

Medication Monitoring: If your dog is on long-term medication, routine blood tests ensure the dosage is safe and that the drugs aren’t negatively impacting their internal organs.

Rupert now has pearly white teeth and is back to his mischievous self!

Dental cleaning is important for pets. Small breed dogs have a higher incidence of dental disease.

If you notice any of these symptoms in your dog, consult your veterinarian right away:

Persistent bad breath (halitosis)

Yellow or brown tartar buildup on the teeth

Red, swollen, or bleeding gums

Drooling or dropping food

Reluctance to chew, or chewing on only one side of the mouth .

Bella getting ‘Pip therapy’

Bella came in pooping blood, wouldn’t eat and looked really sick just this morning. By the evening she has bounced back with treatment and some ‘Pip therapy’ from our staff.

Loving therapy and emotional support are just as vital for dogs as they are for humans.

A sick dog relies heavily on the human-animal bond to heal.

Physical affection, a soothing voice, and gentle presence lower their stress, release calming hormones like oxytocin, and can even help accelerate their recovery process.

8 adorable Retriever (mom) x Bernese (Dad) puppies came in for their first vet check, vaccination and deworming today. All puppies checked out healthy!

Call us 6048150057 or contact Jade (tagged here) if you’re interested.

Vaccinations are very important for puppies . Talk to your vet about their importance.

Standard Puppy Vaccination Schedule

6–8 Weeks: Core vaccinations: Distemper, Parvovirus (sometimes DHPP/DA2PP).

10–12 Weeks: DHPP Booster (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus), Leptospirosis, Bordetella.

14–16 Weeks: Final DHPP Booster, Rabies vaccination.12–16 Months: One-year boosters for DHPP and Rabies.

Key Vaccine Types
Core Vaccines (Essential): Rabies, Canine Parvovirus, Distemper, and Adenovirus (Hepatitis).

Non-Core Vaccines (Lifestyle-Dependent): Bordetella (kennel cough), Leptospirosis and Lyme disease.

Important Considerations

Protection Gap: Maternal antibodies can interfere with vaccines, which is why a series is needed to ensure immunity as they fade.

Socialization Rule: Puppies are generally considered protected one to two weeks after their final round of shots, typically around 16–18 weeks.

Vaccine Reactions: Mild symptoms like lethargy or soreness are possible; consult your vet if they persist.

It is essential to work with your veterinarian to establish a tailored vaccination plan based on your puppy’s specific risk factors and geographic location.

Candy looks well but has been throwing up.

Bloodwork can help unlock why she’s been getting sick.

Key reasons why regular bloodwork is recommended for cats:

Early Detection: Identifies hidden illnesses like hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, and infection before clinical symptoms appear.

Establish Baseline Levels: Normal results establish a baseline for your cat, making it easier to identify subtle changes in future tests.

Pre-Anesthetic Safety: Checks organ function (liver and kidneys) to ensure your cat can safely metabolize anesthetic drugs.

Monitoring Chronic Illness: Tracks the progression of known illnesses and the effectiveness of treatments over time.

Senior Care: Recommended at least annually for senior cats (aged 8+) to catch age-related diseases early.

Here we have Cricket and Snail for spay! Both sweet girls and still growing…

Key Health Benefits of OVH ( Spay)
Cancer Prevention: Spaying, particularly before the first heat cycle, reduces the risk of mammary gland tumors (breast cancer) to less than 0.5%. It also completely eliminates the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers.
Pyometra Prevention: OVH prevents pyometra, a fatal uterine infection, which is a common, life-threatening emergency in unspayed cats.
Disease Management: The procedure eliminates hormonal changes that can interfere with the management of chronic conditions like diabetes or epilepsy.
Increased Life Expectancy: Spayed cats tend to live longer, partly because they are at lower risk for these infections and cancers.

Behavioral Benefits
Elimination of Heat Cycles: Spaying stops the estrous cycle, removing associated behaviors such as constant calling/crying, intense affection, and rubbing on objects.
Reduced Urine Marking: It prevents or stops urine marking behavior inside the home.
Less Roaming: Spayed cats have less desire to escape to find mates, reducing risks associated with wandering.

Population and Social Importance
Preventing Unplanned Litters: It is the most effective way to prevent unwanted pregnancies, which contributes to pet overpopulation and overcrowding in animal shelters.

Meet Zelda!

This 2 year old Biewer Terrier came in for her mani + pedi appointment 😍

Regular nail trimming is essential for a dog’s orthopedic health, comfort, and mobility, typically needed every 2–4 weeks.

Overgrown nails force the paw into unnatural positions, causing strain on leg joints, misalignment of paws, and chronic pain.

Short nails prevent infection, injury, and ensure proper traction and posture.
