Good day, everyone,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this post.
On June 10th at 6:00 p.m., our beloved mare, Lucy, suffered a heart attack and passed away peacefully.
She spent her final moments beside her best friend, Paxton, surrounded by those who loved her deeply. She was not alone.
As a family, we are grieving this heartbreaking loss, and we know many of you who knew and loved Lucy—especially those who shared a special bond with her—are grieving as well.
Lucy spent her years with us loving life and bringing joy to so many. She was deeply loved, well cared for, spoiled, and fussed over by everyone she met. Living into her late 20s, she enjoyed a long and cherished life, and she will be profoundly missed.
Run free, over the rainbow bridge sweet Lucy. You will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.

What a day yesterday OMG!!

A water main in the barn broke and we had almost 8 inches of water through half of the back barn and all the way out to the horse trailer in the parking lot.. they had to dig a 4 ft deep hole in the middle of the walk way to find it.

Thankful our amazing landlord Andries was quick to react and had his awesome and super friendly son come out immediately and fix it.

We had 2 bday party events to do and lessons that day and the team all came out to help with the flooding and all the activities going on for the day !
Awesome team !!

At Behind the Bit Equestrian Center we are doing incredibly meaningful and compassionate work, Providing indefinite sanctuary and medical care for a number horses and ponies in need many of those are non-rehomable.

It is a massive financial and emotional undertaking that requires immense dedication by myself and my absolutely AMAZING team of volunteers who work tirelessly. We are always looking to raise awareness, attract donors, or find sponsors for these permanent residents, by sharing their specific stories, videos, and posting updates which we find is a powerful way to connect with the community and raise much needed awareness.
