Life lately has been busy in every possible way foaling mares, barrel racing, chasing kids around, and working through my first course toward my certification program. Some days it feels like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day.

This foaling season so far has started out as an emotional rollercoaster.

Anyone involved with horses knows how much time, preparation, and worry goes into bringing a foal safely into the world. The late nights checking cameras, the constant monitoring, the hoping everything goes smoothly it all becomes part of your daily life during foaling season.

Unfortunately, this season didn’t start the way I had hoped.

I experienced a red bag delivery and lost my c**t.

It’s hard to put into words the stress and heartbreak that comes with a situation like that. In those moments, everything happens fast, and you do absolutely everything you can for both mare and baby. Even after all the preparation, sleepless nights, monitoring, and effort, sometimes things still don’t go the way we pray they will.

That’s one of the hardest parts of loving animals and living this life. tThe highs can be incredible, but the lows can hit just as hard.

I debated even sharing this because it’s sad, and social media often makes it easy to only post the highlights. But I also think it’s important to talk about the hard parts too. The reality is that behind every healthy foal picture people see online, there are breeders and horse owners carrying heartbreak, disappointment, stress, and exhaustion that often goes unseen.

Of course, the kids have been keeping me running just as much as the horses have. Between activities, everyday life, and trying to keep up with everything in between, the days disappear quickly. It’s a season of life that feels busy in every direction, but also incredibly rewarding.

One thing I’m especially proud of lately is finishing my very first course toward my certification program! Going back to school while managing everything else has definitely been a challenge, but completing that first course feels like a huge milestone and a reminder that progress is still progress even when life feels nonstop.

Right now, life may be messy, busy, loud, and exhausting… but it’s also full of growth, goals, family, horses, and moments I know I’ll look back on someday and miss.

Even through the loss, life doesn’t really slow down. There are still horses to ride, races to make, kids to chase after, work to do, and goals to keep moving toward. I’m learning that sometimes growth happens most during the seasons that challenge us the hardest.

Sum R Firen worked so good day 2 at the yellow rose futurity. So proud of her try, she has had maybe 10 runs total this year so far and is trying so hard for me

A Streak Ta Unleash making a beautiful run on Saturday to make a little money in the 2D. She is still available… point and shoot. Easy and consistent mare to run!!

Sum R Firen placed 6th today in the round at the Spring Fling Futurity. We have few things to work on but she is feeling great.

Okay… can we just talk about the weather for a second? 😅❄️

Because if you live in Canada 🇨🇦 and you have horses you already know.

It’s March… which should mean we’re getting going, legging horses up, feeling motivated…

But instead?

It’s mud. It’s cold. It’s snow one day, melting the next, and then freezing all over again 🙃

And trying to ride in this?

Honestly… it’s a challenge.

Now add in a full-time job, side work, and two little kids 👩‍👧‍👦

And suddenly it’s not just about the weather anymore, it’s about finding the time, the energy, and the motivation to keep showing up.

I’ve got a futurity horse that’s ready to go this year 🐎✨ and I want to be putting in consistent, solid work…

But real life looks a little different right now.

I’m riding when I can.
I’m working around the weather.
I’m squeezing it in between work, supper, and bedtime.

Some days it’s a good ride…
Some days it’s just “well, we tried” 😅

And that’s the part people don’t always talk about.

Everyone sees the runs, the wins, the highlights…

But not this part.

Not the mud.
Not the cold.
Not the chaos of trying to do it all.

But this part?

This is where it’s built 💪

It might not be pretty right now but I know it’s going to pay off.

So if you’re out there juggling all the same things…

Keep going 👊

Spring will come… eventually 🌱

BTW- this photo was taken on our nice day of weather this week 😅

If you’re juggling little kids, big dreams, and a life that doesn’t slow down this space is for you.

Welcome to my blog 🤍

I’m not here for pity, and I’m definitely not here for praise because of “everything I do.” The truth is I know I’m not the only one living this kind of life. And that’s exactly why I’m here… to talk about it, to connect, and hopefully to inspire ✨

If you’ve ever been passionate about something your horse, your sport, your business and then had to take a step back because of finances, babies, or just life… you’re in the right place 🙌

So let’s get into it 👇

Right now, I have a futurity horse heading into her five year old year 🐎 She feels incredible fun to ride, talented, and honestly, she has the potential to be something really special ✨

But here’s the honest part…

Am I ready to show up for her the way she deserves? 🤔

It’s been since 2021 since I’ve ridden a top futurity horse when I finished that year as the 2021 CBHI Futurity Champion and even that year came with setbacks (we’ll save that story for another time 😉). So stepping back into this world while balancing work, motherhood, and everything else is a challenge.

But I’m doing it anyway 💪

It’s March in Canada 🇨🇦 The snow is melting, everything is mud, and the days are long. I work full days, come home to two little kids who need me, and somewhere in between supper, bedtime, and life I’m in the barn putting in the work 🐎

It’s exhausting. It’s stressful. It’s a lot.

But honestly?

Life would feel pretty boring without it 🤍

And if I can do this… so can you 💥

Let’s chase it together ✨

I wanna hear your challenge now for 2026, put it in the comments 👇🏻
