We all want our homes to smell nice and clean; however, as pet owners, we have to be extra careful that whatever we are using isn’t harmful to our fur babies. Incense is dangerous to cats as their sense of smell is 14 times stronger than that of humans and the smell can be too intense for them to handle. It also produces smoke, which can be bad for their respiratory system and increase the risk of your cat developing asthma. Opt for cat-friendly methods of keeping your house smelling fresh and clean by dusting frequently, using baking soda to absorb odors, having fragrant plants such as rosemary or sage, or simmering a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, apples, or vanilla. Stay current with your cats' healthcare needs and schedule their appointment by calling (778) 210-1883.

love that tug rope!

A new peer-reviewed study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science followed 858 senior dogs and found that dogs who regularly played, trained, hiked, swam, or participated in other activities with their owners showed fewer signs of age-related cognitive decline. The benefits appeared to go beyond exercise alone, with activities that challenged the brain and strengthened the dog-owner bond linked to healthier brain aging. Dogs that participated at least weekly tended to stay mentally sharper, while lifelong sports dogs had the lowest cognitive decline scores.
That’s important because doggy dementia is one of the most common quality-of-life issues affecting senior dogs. The takeaway? Regular play, training, enrichment, and shared adventures may help keep your dog’s mind younger for longer.

Supporting healthy aging also means protecting the joints that keep dogs active. That’s why Dr. Karen Becker formulated Mobility Matrix™ with science-backed ingredients like UC-II® undenatured type II collagen and eggshell membrane to support mobility and comfort.

Honestly… they might be onto something 😌 Whether it’s saying no to chaos, no to sharing boxes, or no to anything that doesn’t pass their vibe check, cats set boundaries and stick to them.

Polydactyl cats are born with extra toes, most often on their front paws. It’s a genetic trait and is usually completely harmless, just an extra dose of cute. That said, those extra toes can come with a few care considerations. More toes means more nails to trim, and sometimes they grow at different angles or are easier to snag if not maintained. Most polydactyl cats live totally normal, healthy lives, but regular paw checks and nail trims are important to keep them comfortable.

Dogs experience the world through scent in a way we can’t fully imagine. They have up to 300 million scent receptors, compared to about 6 million in humans, which means smells carry much more information for them.

What seems gross to us is often fascinating and informative to them. It’s completely normal behavior, even if it makes us question their choices.
