Today, I am throwing a little pawrty for Lexi, to celebrate her 14th birthday again. I rented a private 4-acre park and invited her doggie friends and Skye’s friends. If you have some time and want to cuddle dogs, send me a message and I’ll send you the address. It starts at 4pm.
I got this cake done, with a sculpture of Lexi on top…with 1 eye 😆😍…so cute 😄.
The squirrel is there because Lexi is a “squirrel patrol “, and still runs after them at 14! 🤨.

Lexi went on a short walk around the block (and didn’t care about the neighborhood’s dogs). She’s walking fast 😅 and on her own already, albeit not in a straight line, but her recovery time is faster than when she first had her vestibular episode some 3 months ago.

Just caught a sweet moment between Lexi and Skye 🥹❤️ Skye adores Lexi. Lexi is getting better and we are on day 4 after her vestibular episode. Still needs help for the stairs and sofa… but she stands on her own to eat and drink. 👏🏻🐕🐕

Update: Lexi, unfortunately, had a second vestibular episode just 2 nights ago. The first one was 3 months ago. Luckily, this time, the episode was milder. She cannot walk straight but can take a few wobbly steps around the yard. She needs help to go up or down the stairs. Today, she is not eating much because of how dizzy she feels, but she did eat some of her birthday cake with my help. 🎂 Lexi, as always, looks for me and is responding to my voice and all the cuddles. I did take her to the vet to get more anti-nausea medication because with vertigo, her tummy was getting sensitive. Lexi is now resting. She’s still her happy self… my little cutie pie. 🥹❤️ We are now waiting for this episode to pass and for Lexi to get better. Skye was worried and gave Lexi kisses. She’s being such a good little sister to Lexi. How did I get so lucky with two sweet dogs? 🥰

Day 2 of cake eating! I think it’s cute that the cake is made with layers, just like for human cake. 😄 Skye - sweet helpful Skye - was more than willing to help Lexi eat… a little faster 😆…

Happy 14th birthday to my beautiful heart dog! 🎉🥳🎂🎊🎈🎁
Time sure flies! Lexi was only 6 months old when she became my foster-fail. 🫣
From the moment she met me, she decided I was her person. I cannot believe my luck. She’s so sweet. Lexi is the kind of dog who is very expressive. Her big ears are irresistible 🥺 I just wish I could go back 10 years so I could spend more time with her. It’s hard to watch your heart dog get old.
Old age isn’t without challenges: Lexi had a vestibular episode about 2.5 months ago and it was scary. She is 99% back to her old self now, thank goodness. It could have been idiopathic, or due to something else, who knows? I decided to let her be instead of doing a bunch of tests that would have required her to go under anaesthesia.
Lexi is now 14 years old, and is actually aging beautifully. She runs (faaast!!), she still barks at the crows (how dare they come into her yard?), and is still the “Squirrel patrol” at the park! On the other hand, she’s a pro at using her puppy face and her waggy tail when she wants you to give up that last bite of that banana you are eating (even if you did say no… twice…🙄). You just can’t resist.
Her birthday cake ( )was a hit! Although I did have to remove it before she ate it all 🤣.
