🐾 Meet Coco — a brave and beautiful 7-month-old Siberian kitten who’s been through quite the journey! 💛
Coco had foreign body surgery to remove part of a cat toy that had become stuck in her small intestine. Recovery was tough — so she came to Pulse for continued care. On presentation, she was running a fever and battling mild pancreatitis. Despite medications to get her GI tract moving again, she wasn’t improving and couldn’t tolerate the nutritional support we were giving her. 💉
She went back into another exploratory surgery, where we found an abscess at her previous surgical site and had to remove a portion of her intestine. She needed a blood transfusion — but little by little, Coco started to improve. 🐱💪 She began eating, playing, and showing her sweet, spunky kitten personality again.
Coco later underwent another surgery to place a special feeding tube to support her nutrition. She spent a total of 21 days in hospital with us. Once her feeding tube was removed, she was able to go home — but the removal led to some leakage from the site that caused skin irritation. She came in every day for checkups and bandage changes, but ultimately, she needed to stay with us for another 8 days to help her heal and have her gastrostomy site closed.
Now? Coco is doing better! She’s only coming in every couple of weeks for rechecks, and while we absolutely adore seeing her, we’re so thrilled that she’s home with her wonderful family and getting back to being a normal, happy kitten. 💕🐾
Our Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Diagnostic Imaging teams all worked together to help Coco through her recovery — but she quickly became loved throughout the entire hospital. Every single staff member, in every department, absolutely adored her. 🐾💖
We are so proud of this little fighter and the support our team and Coco’s family showed every step of the way!
