Anyone who knows me, knows that when I do show dogs, I do it to support the clubs. And yes, everyone likes to win but it is never my reason for showing.
We arrived in Squamish to the 2024 WRA & NOTRA Nationals and were greeted with kind people. Woke up this morning for a fun match in which I only entered Tarakru’s Phish Upon A Star (Denim) and Saesi 3Spot Eartheater Phish (Piggy). (I knew I would be tired and it would be hot but wanted to support the entries.)
I gave Denim a few practices at stacking with my clicker and treats and off we went.
Denim was the only puppy in her age group of 3-6m and of course she won! I was thrilled to have her stay with me and move around the ring with confidence. She also had great
free stacks!
Onwards to best puppy overall and she won again! The judge couldn’t stop saying how lovely and correct she is.
Head into best in show, and she was in with a gorgeous group of dogs. She didn’t win but the judge made a point in telling me that if she didn’t sniff the ground on the one turn, she well may have!! This just thrilled me.
I get invited back in to a huge class for award of merit. The judge had us all stacked and guess what? Little Denim won!!! I almost cried. Again the accolades from the judge were nice to hear.
I couldn’t do this of course without Mary Magee and H-j Dansereau who breed beautiful dogs!!! (Denims parents.)
Then Alyssa took Piggy into a large fun class called Best Buns and she came 3rd!!! Eeeeeeeee!!!
Such lovely prizes and a very organized match.
I am excited for measuring later this afternoon and we start racing tomorrow at 8 am.
