872 days ago, you came to live with us, scared and unsure about the world. We needed you, and you needed us.

We may never truly know why you are still afraid of so many things, including strange men and unfamiliar people in general. But just know this: with us, you will always be safe, protected, warm, and well fed.

We love your antics. We love how you howl during video calls with your grandfather in Southern Ontario. Thank you for giving me the strength to heal after losing your brother (our Golden Retriever, Hound, Husky mix) far too young at just eight years old.

Thank you for simply being yourself, and thank you for helping me through the tearful moments when I still cry for your brother.

This year, I am focusing on healing and becoming stronger, and I know that with you by my side, I can do this.
