Phoenix is a Canadian Kennel Club registered pure bred Golden Retriever. She is CHIC certified through the OFA. This means that she has received and passed all recommended health tests for Golden Retrievers (hips, elbows, eyes and heart). In addition she has had all recommended genetic tests and is not a carrier for any genetic health problems known to occur in Golden Retrievers. Why are these tests important? When you welcome a sweet little puppy into your home you don’t want to set yourself up for heartache in the future. Health problems like hip dysplasia and skin diseases, are painful, and or expensive to manage. Some of the OFA health tests are only available from a Veterinary specialist one or more provinces away. Getting all of the health testing done is expensive and time consuming. A breeder that has gone through the trouble of getting their animal CHIC certified is demonstrating that they are truly dedicated to producing healthy animals.
