I love animals of all kinds. But one of the biggest reasons why I love working specifically with cats and why I work so hard in advocacy is because cats are very misunderstood and most of the time it comes down to a simple lack of knowledge. I haven't even been in advocacy for that long and I cannot count how many times people have asked me for advice on how to deal with their 'aggressive' cat and after a few simple questions it seems fairly likely that it is just an overstimulation/excess energy issue. I also cannot count how many people are flabbergasted when you suggest playing with them and exclaim "IM NOT GONNA PLAY WITH MY CAT! ITS A CAT! IT DOESNT NEED TO PLAY!"
There are still so many people that equate cats to something like a plant. Give it food and some water and it will be good! As are no different than dogs or even you or me. Every cat reacts differently to stimuli and as a result they can end up with a lot of excess energy (or they might just be a teenager in which case they have energy by the buckets!). No mater what causes it, that energy has to go somewhere!! Also, it's so much fun to play with your kitty and see it's little hunter come out to play. They are impressive and very agile!!! So do yourself a favour and stock up on some toys that will tire your furry baby out and everyone will be a lot happier ☺️
Be vewy, vewy quiet. I'm hunting... ankles! So many clients of mine over the years come to me mortified because their cats were "attacking" them. If it look like this, it's play. And it's a sign to you that you're not playing enough! For more of the whole cat truth, check out my book, Total Cat Mojo: http://bit.ly/2BasBym
