Tail-Wagging Testimonials!
" We have had our Invisible Fence since April 2019, and we LOVE everything about it. We live on 5 acres with our two Great Pyrenees crosses. Our goal was to have them outdoors during the day, but we wanted to make sure that they were contained to our yard, for their own safety, for our safety (they are supposed to be working!), and to avoid annoying our neighbours. Great Pyrs are wanderers, climbers, and diggers, and our vet recommended the Invisible Fence to us as the best solution for them. I am a great believer in positive dog training, and it was important to me to find a cruelty-free containment solution. I really appreciated that Solange took the time to talk me through the fence's design and function, as well as her approach to training the dogs and setting them up for success. I was thoroughly impressed by her deep knowledge of dog behaviour. While the radio line for the fence was being installed around our property, she worked with our 7-month old puppies inside to teach them what they need to do while wearing their radio collars. The collars give 3 types of feedback to the dogs when they cross the fence line: an audio beep, a vibration, and a spark sensation. In training mode, the collars are set to a very low level - we held the collars in our own hands to feel what the dogs would be feeling. Even at the lowest setting, both dogs could clearly sense and respond to the warning: it didn't hurt them, but it was irritating and they wanted to avoid it. Solange brought a bucket of high quality treats and worked with both of them first inside, then outside. Our female puppy got it immediately; our male took longer.
After Solange introduces the concepts on day 1, she requires owners to practice the training on the fence with the dogs several times a day, practicing running towards the fence AND turning around before getting too close to it. That training period was about two weeks long. The dogs' collar signals are dialled up from the first training period, yet not at full strength, during that practice period. An interesting thing to know is that Solange adjusts the strength of the collar feedback according to the personality and needs of the dogs: it's about finding the strength of signal that will get the dog's attention and convince them to avoid the irritation, while avoiding harm to the dog. During that training period, our girl puppy "got it" right away, and was basically 100% on the fence from day one. Our male took a few weeks longer. He had a few escapes during the training period and I was starting to worry, but Solange guarantees success: she told us she had a 100% success rate, but offered a satisfaction guarantee if for some reason it didn't work for our dogs. She came back to our place to adjust our male puppy's settings and review his training: and then, success!
It was only about 3 weeks from installation to being able to let the dogs out with their collars on and have them contained. It took about a month more before I was confident that they were not going to escape. Since then, we have been so impressed with the system. It just WORKS. We let our dogs out, and we know that they are contained to our property, where they should be. Our neighbours on three sides have also installed Invisible Fences, and so have prevented two more Great Pyrenees crosses, a Husky, and two Terriers from crossing into each other's yards. The neighbours Great Pyrs were previously accustomed to roaming the entire neighbourhood. It took a longer time for them to be contained, but they are. SUCCESS!
It gives all of us such peace of mind. For my family, it has been worth every penny. My dogs LOVE to put their collars on in the morning, and they have the run of the yard all day. They come in at night happy, tired, and calm. We added the "rock" system that excludes the dogs from the garden - couldn't be happier with that decision! Solange is just lovely to work with, our puppies LOVE her, and we highly recommend her and the Invisible Fence system to anyone wanting to give their dogs freedom on their own property. " - ABA
