🫘Exciting update from Courtis Family Farms! 🌱

A few days ago, we direct sowed our Xico bush beans, and I’m happy to share—they’ve started to sprout! We tried two different planting methods on the same bed:

- Half the bed was sown randomly and evenly, making small holes with my finger about an inch deep, then lightly burying the seeds.

- The other half involved creating small trenches from front to back, laying the seeds about an inch apart from one end to the other.

While the row method is quicker and easier to plant, I suspect it might dry out a bit faster—something to keep an eye on. The scattered method, on the other hand, should help provide ground cover, nitrogen, and improved water retention for the two artichokes sharing the space.

This experiment will help us learn which planting style works best in our conditions. Stay tuned for updates on how these beans grow and thrive!

Lots of onion starts available! Asking $1 per stem. I believe these are walla walla or French Shallots but I've lost track. They produce delicious small white onions that are great in stir fry or eat the green stems like you would spring onions in potato salad or tuna sandwiches 🥪💚 🧅
