Adoption Update: Fruit Loop (formerly Frankie)! 🐾

This little guy had all of our Animal Shelter staff completely smitten — we seriously debated keeping him for ourselves! 😍 But we couldn’t be happier that he found the perfect family instead.

Frankie (now Fruit Loop 🍓💛) was adopted last month by a family who fell in love with him the moment they met. Before his adoption was even finalized, his new family told us that Magi and Riley were so excited they could hardly sleep!

Now, Fruit Loop has settled right in — he’s cuddled nonstop by his two biggest fans and rules his cat tree like the King of the Castle. 👑🐱

We’re so happy for this sweet boy and his wonderful new family!

Update: Mittens is home with his loving family.

Our Community Cat TNR team was trapping on Wellington St between Hinks St & Southwick St and this very friendly and a little chubby guy walked right into the trap. We are hoping to find his owners as he does not need TNR. Please call 519-631-7430 if you recognize this boy.

URGENT ‼️

We need your help.

Earlier today, our team found a female dog tied up and left outside the shelter after hours - sometime last night or early this morning. She is lactating, which means she recently had puppies, and we are very concerned for their safety and wellbeing.

If you have any information about where her puppies might be, or who may have left her, please contact St. Thomas Animal Services immediately at 519-631-7430 or message us
directly.

Our priority right now is to ensure this mom and her pups are safe and cared for. ❤️

Our team recently attended a fantastic conference for Animal Shelter Professionals of Ontario - ASPO where we deepened our knowledge and strengthened our connections to better serve our community.

Here’s a snapshot of what we covered:

🔹 Engaged in informative lectures about a range of diseases — how they arise, how they spread, and how we can prevent and manage them in our shelter environment.

🔹 Learned in-depth about the current rabies situation in Ontario, as well as updates on avian flu, so we are more prepared than ever.

🔹 Picked up fresh tips & tricks for working with our animals — everything from enrichment and handling, to health checks and behaviour-support strategies.

🔹 Networked with staff from other shelters and joined forces with new partners who will help us level up our efforts in the community.

We’re so excited to put all of this newfound knowledge into action. Our animals and our community deserve the best — and we’re committed to raising the bar! 📈

A huge thank you to Abate Chapter 9 for their incredible generosity. They donated $1000 toward our new animal shelter plus $650 worth of toys and treats for our furry friends! ❤️

Every donation brings us one step closer to reaching our fundraising goal, and we’re getting so close!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the animals in our community. 🐶🐱

Adoption Update: Robbie! 🐾

We recently received the sweetest update about Robbie — and yes, that is him rocking a banana hat 🍌😆

Robbie has settled beautifully into his new home! His adopter tells us he and his new brother, C**t, love to play and wrestle every morning (all in good fun, of course). Robbie is a loving, easygoing guy who even tolerates silly hats and tooth brushing like a champ.

We love seeing our shelter animals thriving in their forever homes — thank you to Robbie’s family for giving him such a wonderful life! 💛🐱

Meet Missy – Our Happy, High-Energy Girl! 🐾

Missy is a fun-loving Labrador Retriever/Spitz mix who’s full of joy, zoomies, and endless love! 💛 She’s happiest when playing fetch or tug-of-war — and she’s always up for more.

This five-year-old sweetheart adores people, dogs, and cats alike. She was deeply loved by her previous owner, who sadly can no longer care for her due to illness. Now Missy’s ready to find a new family to love just as fiercely as she’s loved before.

Missy will thrive in an active home where she can run, play, and soak up all the affection she deserves. 🐕✨
