So glad we were able to help Eddie! Thanks to PetSmart Charities for sharing his story.

Eddie, a Scottish Fold kitten, first came to the clinic at the Humane Society of Greater Niagara supported by PetSmart Charities of Canada for routine vaccinations, but his journey soon became more complex.

He needed a more advanced neuter procedure that would have been out of reach financially for his pet parent, but thanks to accessible veterinary care at HSGN, Eddie was able to get the surgery he needed. 💕

Today, Eddie is a happy, healthy cat, and his pet parent is incredibly grateful for the care he received. ❤️😺

Stories like Eddie’s show how donations to PetSmart Charities of Canada help improve access to veterinary care, so more pets get the treatment they need to stay healthy and together with their families. 🐾

🐾 Fun Fact! Female cats are induced ovulators. This means ovulation is triggered by mating, not a regular cycle. In the spring, female cats will repeatedly go into heat until they become pregnant or are spayed. 🐾

Because of this, cats can reproduce very efficiently, which is why spaying and neutering is so important. We currently have surgical spaces available for cats, but they’re filling quickly. Please, book now before the busy season arrives. Female cats can be spayed at any point in their heat cycle.

Jasper was adopted from a rescue group by a young family before he was old enough to be neutered—but thanks to the support of our low-cost spay and neuter program, his family was able to get him the surgery he needed.

During his visit, Jasper’s gentle and social nature melted hearts, reminding everyone just how special each animal is—and how important accessible care can be.

On Saturday, HSGN proudly partnered with Minor Bros Country Living to host a successful Rabies & Microchip Clinic, and the community truly showed up.

🐶🐱 In just 3 hours:
• 60 pets vaccinated against rabies
• 29 pets protected with microchips

Access to care matters—30% of people who attended our clinic shared that they do not have a regular veterinary clinic, highlighting just how important accessible services like this are for our community.

A huge THANK YOU to:

✨ Boehringer Ingelheim for supporting our mission by donating vaccines
✨ Our incredible volunteers who braved a snowy January morning and worked nonstop to make this clinic a success
