It’s been a wild ride. 3 months shy of 11 years of grooming and I’ve met hundreds of incredible dogs, a few dozen terrific cats (plus a handful of spicy ones), so many outstanding people, thousands of laughs and smiles, fantastic stories, several coffees, wine bottles, hugs and boxes of chocolate, and even a few tears. I don’t know yet if this is the end of an era or just a pause, but whatever it is I could not have done the last 10 + years without you, and I could literally never thank you enough.

I am officially closed for business. In 2026 I will be focusing on taking care of my health and in the mean time trying to make and sell beautiful art. I wasn’t planning on doing a Breed of the Month feature for October, but I’ve had a change of heart. This month feels too special not to be honoured. October is both the month Molly came into my life and the month I had to say goodbye to her 15 years later. To celebrate her memory, I’ll be featuring Shih Tzus and Shih Tzu crosses as October’s Breed of the Month. It feels like the perfect way to keep her spirit close and shine a little extra light on the breed that gave me my best friend.

An important update for all my lovely customers: Posting while I have the courage 🫣 Spoiler alert…it contains some bad news 😢

As some of you know I have been struggling for quite sometime with back, shoulder, hip, leg and feet issues. None of the issues I am dealing with are catastrophic. Rather, it’s a whole bunch of smaller, but painful issues that are easily aggravated by the physical nature of grooming and cannot heal as long as I have a physical job. After a year and a half of contemplating I have made the incredibly hard decision that 2025 will be my final year of grooming. My body is failing me, and simply put…I’m exhausted from trying to make something work for me that just isn’t going to. So, I need to take some time to take care of myself and get healthy and stronger again. Part of the reason it took me so long to make this decision is because of YOU and your dogs! It’s hard to let go of what you love, and I feel like I’m letting you all down. But thank you for making it so difficult for me, because that means you truly are the best customers ever!

My final day of grooming will be December 31st so you’re welcome to keep booking up until then. I’m hoping to make sure everyone knows by the end of this month either in person or by text so that you have a good 6 month heads up. I also plan to contact some home based groomers over the next couple months and find out who is taking new customers, and who grooms dogs one at a time. I’m hoping having a small list of places you can go will help make the transition a little bit easier.

I am so sad to have to share this post, and I’m going to miss you all SO much. But for now we’re just going to focus on the fact that we still have 6 ish more months together. 😌

PS, I’ve had a lot of people asking this week what I’m going to be doing after December. First, grooming isn’t necessarily off the table forever…I may be able to pick it up again if things change. But for now I am attempting to launch an art career (I was in Fine Arts prior to grooming). It feels a little crazy…it is not a stable job like grooming, but I have a lot of ideas to try so, it’s just a matter of waiting to see what happens. ‼️ ‼️A very important update from the boss! ‼️‼️

I’ve been mulling over an idea for quite awhile that will have a significant impact on scheduling for dogs. I’ve been slowly working on my cat grooming skills over the last 2 years and have decided that in the future I will be dedicating Tuesday’s to cats only.
This means (despite me not wanting to disappoint anyone) that at least 1/3 of my dog customers are going to be at a loss for appointments. Although it’s not mandatory to book ahead, if you want to keep to a schedule you will likely have to book one or two appointments ahead (especially if you have 2 or more dogs). If you prefer to book when you realize your pup needs a hairdo, then disappointment and a long wait will likely follow.
I figure it’ll take a good year before everything balances out the way I’m hoping. Due to the fact that most cats are not groomed as regularly as dogs, I still have yet to build up a lot more cat customers. So I will likely still book some dogs on Tuesdays until I no longer have room for them, but there won’t be a lot of availability.

On another note…Social media has long ago served its purpose as far as getting a business up and running goes. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it, and most of my referrals come from word of mouth now SO I will be removing my page at the end of this week. Since I don’t do much on it, it’s not a huge deal. I will leave insta up for now, but will be taking a long break from it. All this means for you is that the only way to book an appointment now is through text message (or phone if you want to wait an eternity for me to check my voicemail). I will not be checking social media message for the foreseeable future.

There are several reasons for these two decisions and I thank you all for being amazing customers. I’m hoping the scheduling situation will work out better than I imagine for both you and I!

Happy Monday from Nevada!! 💜💜💜

Just a side note…I do not take medium or large dogs any more. They absolutely kill my back. I have a handful of well behaved ones that I kept from when I did big dogs in the past. And I have Nevada who is actually my Springer sister…and I can’t deny a family member a good haircut 😉
