🦇 Happy Halloween from the Russell Equine team! 🎃

We think ulcers are quite terrifying... thankfully only bugs and worms were found in Dandy the mummified mare's stomach 👻 she's been cleared to eat all the Halloween treats 🍬

As we close out the week and near the end of the month we wanted to give a shout out to our lovely technicians 💙

October is Registered Veterinary Technician month - a time to recognize the contributions of those who pursued formal education and continue to meet the requirements to maintain their provincial registration status 🩺

Technicians play a vital role in supporting both our doctors and patients, contributing to every stage of care—from the barn to the lab, pharmacy, and everything in between 💉🐴

Thank you for your continued hard work and dedication - We appreciate you all so much!

We're here to answer any questions you may have - don't hesitate to give us a call to discuss exposure risk and EIA testing if you attended!

🐴 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OUR EQUINE PARTICIPANTS

The Perth & District Agricultural Society has been notified that an animal that attended one of the equine events at the 2026 Perth Fair, between September 3–6, has since tested positive for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA).

We are sharing this information with our equine participants so that they are aware and can take any precautions they feel are appropriate.

If you attended the Fair with horses during this time and have any concerns about possible exposure or the health of your animals, we encourage you to contact your local veterinarian for advice and guidance regarding any recommended next steps or testing.

We appreciate everyone’s attention to this notice and their continued commitment to the health and well-being of the equine community.

This morning our doctors participated in a Zoetis CenTrate BMA (Bone Marrow Aspirate) wet lab!

The CenTrate device allows for the collection of bone marrow stem cells from the horse's sternum which can then be used to help manage both chronic osteoarthritis and soft tissue injuries. The pictured patient had her upper and lower hock joints injected with the harvested stem cells 💉

Big thank-you to our Zoetis Equine territory manager as well as their vet specialist for making the trip out to help us expand our knowledge and treatment options! 🧡

Our team is out of the office taking advantage of this beautiful September weather! We hope you're all having a great long weekend ☀️

Running low on 4Cyte Equine? We suggest restocking now! A small manufacturer increase is taking effect as of September so this is your last chance to purchase 250mL and 1L gels at the current price 🐎💨
