Some pups don’t care that we are nearly the coldest place on earth and would be happy to still play all day. 🤷🏼♀️
May you enjoy your time outside as much as this guy, who gives every play and every day a solid 11/10.
What do we do when it feels like -45? Lots and lots and lots of quick trips outside, all day long.
Lots.
So many.
*special thanks to Uncle Lonnie for always getting geared up for the cold, to help all our besties burn off some energy. 💛
We may not have playgroups, but that doesn’t mean our guests don’t have playtime! These two are a great match for each other, and will parallel play with their toys and chase each other, and then take a break and do their own thing.
This is play that is safe, both physically and emotionally, and always gives the participants an easy way to opt out or take a break when they are overwhelmed.
We make pathways and mounds of snow for our guests to explore, move over and around, and dig in. It’s neat seeing how different dogs enjoy this enriched space when they don’t know they are being watched. :)
On days like today, where there’s 247 feet of snow outside, it’s nice to have a place inside to play.
What do dogs do during the day here?
They pee. Eat. And do this some. And sleep. More of this. Snacks. This. Dinner. Sleep. Pee. Sleep.
Rinse, repeat.
It’s a good life, with happy pups and happy humans.
Did we… ring in the new year with fireworks, 100 of our closest friends, a live band, and semi formal dress?
No we did not. All those things sound awful.
Instead, we all enjoyed some festive cookies and a regular, predictable night routine, with all eight of our guests out and pottied, and tucked back into their warm beds by 11:00. Each pup got an extra scritch and squish, and I told them you missed them and said hi.
Happiest New Years. May 2025 right some wrongs in your life, and be the year you really needed.
Please, if you are celebrating with alcohol or other substances, don’t drive.
This is our favourite time of year, where we are full, but have several days in a row with no or just a couple check ins and outs, which allows us to spend the whole day hanging out with your pups. We don’t have many emails or other office duties to attend to, and don’t have much extra cleaning.
It’s almost like days off for us, and that is a nice thing.
I hope your holidays were gentle with you, and filled with all the best things, like cheese, pie, naps on the couch, and time with a good book/family/your dog.
Here’s a handful of our dozen guests, enjoying the mild weather and snowy obstacle course. :)
This is the best minute of your day, right here, watching this little, old, toothless lady eating her bedtime cookie.
You’re welcome.

*if a guest is with us long enough, they will learn the important life skill of catching a treat 😆
Here is a dog who understands we are playing, and he keeps coming back for more. We are both showing exaggerated, goofy body language, which lets the other know it’s okay to keep going - no hurt feelings will happen.
This guy had a great visit with us. He was fun and wiggly, and had the very best manners. Thanks for the play, Lewchy!
