Miss Brynn the dog (not the cat 😂) is here for a board and train to work on some manners. I train for everyday (our farm is perfect for this) ... this includes some low key cat training too 🤣🤣🤣 Bynx definitely thinks he is a dog LOL. Place work, works for all! Distractions are my favourite - this gives the dog the chance to practice all things life and be prepared for whatever comes their way ❤️

Training doesn't have to look/be perfect for it be effective. I mess up all the time 😂 Half the time I just start something and see where it goes - this goes back to "Training the Dog in Front of You". I like to turn majority of the work I do into games… I take myself far less seriously which reduces frustration if I don't get the desired outcome I had in my head. It also is fun for the dog and helps strengthen that bond. Delilah ButterBean Adult Shark was a challenging dog for me to bond with. She didn't really care if she was with me or not. It wasn't until I realized her training style is negative punishment 😂 Sounds scary right?! It literally only means the "Removal of something Unpleasant" ... I happened to be the unpleasant 😂😂😂 Lilah has always wanted to do what Lilah wants to do LOL. Once I realized this I was able to learn to pay attention to what she found rewarding ... it changes ... sometimes it's going for a run, chasing sticks or playing with the others. Now we can both have fun and achieve our goals. I get my best work out of Lilah when I add a little frustration - such as rapid throwing food and not letting her get the ones she missed until she hears her release word "Break"

Fun exercise for Brynn my current board and train. She is a resource guarder ... especially over her food and dishes. So now all meals come from me in one form or another. Brynn loves to sniff and follow her nose ... instead of being annoyed about it or trying to suppress it - I use it to my advantage. I'm letting her do the work and thinking while I just chill. In this exercise I really only use a couple commands (look and break). She understands "place" well by now. The whole point of this is for her to come back to me - because all good things come from me - not a bowl. LOL. This exercise also reinforces her looking at me for all things as well as impulse control. She is soooo smart. A very interesting dog to work.

Brynn’s got some pretty strong opinions about what’s “hers” — and she’s not shy about defending it. That kind of resource guarding can get dangerous fast, so we’ve been working on creating structure around the things she values most.Using spatial pressure, structured feeding, and tug with rules (this is how I introduced out and leave it), she’s learning that losing something doesn’t mean the fun’s over. Sometimes she gets it back, sometimes she doesn’t — especially if it’s something she really shouldn’t have — and sometimes it’s swapped for something even better.Telling your dog no isn't the issue ... The problem is telling your dog no without instruction on what the yes is. Boundaries = freedom. Structure = safety. Clear Communication = Understanding ... And Brynn’s catching on fast. 🥰

Getting your dog to work for their meals can be as simple or complex as you want. It doesn't have to take long and can easily be incorporated into your day. Today I had my coffee outside while I worked Brynn. I call this a win win LOL. She is so darn smart! So smart that it is crucial to make sure Brynn's brain is used and that she is taught what calm is. Left to her own devices without structure she makes terrible choices 😂 She is now getting better at looking at things (example the cats) and choosing on her own to ignore them or move to a different spot. It's not about perfection - it's about progress 💜
