What a great surprise! 🤗

We heard the beeping of the truck backing up the lane and wondered what was being delivered.

Litter is one of the most used and needed supplies but the least often donated.

This shipment may last two weeks, if we’re lucky.

Thank you Lindsay! 🫶

MEET SAGE.

Sage’s story is a lesson in “you can”.

Sage showed up in “MJ’s” yard a couple of months ago. Soon she brought her four kittens to be fed as well.

At that point, MJ reached out. They wanted to make sure mom got fixed and the kittens didn’t remain outside. I was very honest with MJ - our fosters were full and we had no one to socialize a feral Sage. I told them we could help at some point but to get the cats inside immediately they would need to foster.

MJ is 77 years old. They have a number of cats of their own. They’re the full time caregiver for their spouse. To say they already have their plate full is an understatement.

But they agreed. They had a room in their home with just some office equipment and agreed the cats could hang out in there temporarily.

I went over early one morning and Sage was promptly trapped. MJ had already arranged with their vet to do the spay. I showed MJ how to operate the traps and within 24 hrs they had all five cats inside.

MJ has worked for the last month socializing these cats, and finally we had space to take them in so MJ’s part is done.

Without MJ agreeing to help, these cats would still be outside. The kittens would be too old to socialize and they’d be destined to live as ferals outdoors.

Remember:
77 yrs old.
Caregiver to a severely ill spouse.
Still willing and able to help.

So let this be a lesson:
You can help those cats in your yard.
You can trap cats.
You can set up vetting on your own.
You can foster.
You just have to want to.

Thanks MJ, for saving this family. 🖤
