Is anyone able to foster a male Guinea pig who just got over a bout of ring worm? Would need quarantine and someone knowledgeable about avoiding getting infected themselves, he seems clear of it now but because he’s had it on and off for a while I didn’t want anyone to chance it

I can include a cage etc. I don’t have a quarantine spot available for him right now and most of my fosters aren’t comfortable bringing in ringworm into their homes right now.

Ringworm isn’t actually a worm or parasite, it’s a fungal infection and the same bacteria that can cause athletes foot etc

Meet SARC's very own bombshell - Hamela Anderson! She is curious, adorable, and ready to steal your heart. Like any good star, Hamela needs the right setup to thrive: plenty of space to explore, a secure enclosure, deep bedding for burrowing, a balanced hamster diet, fresh water, enrichment, and regular spot-cleaning. Hamsters are active little animals and deserve room to run, forage, dig, and sleep undisturbed. Hamela may not have Baywatch rescues to perform, but she’s ready to make your home her own red-carpet destination!

So so so bitter sweet. ❤️‍🩹
Today I got a message from a local rescue contact at VOKRA - Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association… about a local kitten, diagnosed w FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis) who needed urgent access to the FIP anti viral medicine. It’s called GS-441524

this life saving medicine is costly and I paid just under $900 for a small 30ml bottle In my attempt to save baby Jasper from this horrible disease. It is a brand new treatment with a high (90+%) success rate for an infection that previously was regarded as fatal, a true life saver but sadly Jasper was a small 3m old, emaciated, negelcted, barely 1kg kitten who went misdiagnosed and started the treatment too late, and did not make it despite me investing over $23,000 in his care at the best vet in western Canada (Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital)

After he unfortunately passed away, I had reached out to many local kitten rescues to see if they needed the left over medicine with our vets blessing. It’s high cost makes it inaccessible to many owners.

Today, in under 6 hours from VOKRA and me touching base with the owner about this kitten and their need for the medicine, I was able to meet the owner of Levi and share it and some other things that helped Jasper during his battle. Jasper loved the Tiki cat baby thrive food before he lost his ability to eat ❤️‍🩹

It’s better sweet as this pricey bottle held my final hopes that my baby Jasper could recover and survive, giving it away hurt my heart but i would have felt worse to waste it and throw away. Little Levi has neurological FIP just like Jasper had and I pray this helps his recovery.

I love you Jasper and I’m forever sorry your last week was full of pain while fighting for your life. I will forever advocate for proper pet cat care in your honour! Keeping cats indoors, as the virus can be spread outside and vaccination as co-infections can weaken their immune system and cause the coronavirus to mutate and over take their systems.

I am still $20k+ in debt over this horrific experience. I have no regrets but I welcome financial support to help pay for his final costs. Including his necropsy, and private cremation service.

If anyone wishes to support my efforts please consider donating to my gofundme linked below. Donations can help cover the expense of the medication I donated to Levi in his battle.

Photo is of Jasper before he took a turn for the worst. Poor baby likely would have lost his eyes if he survived the Infection. He’s at peace now and that fact helps me carry on stay afloat during this trying time.

I am a changed person because of him
