Sweet Bee’s Small Pet Connect Helping small pets avoid abandonment by providing owners resources / rehoming support since 2022. VANCOUVER-SURREY BC

Today is World Parrot Day. 🦜 Did you know that one of their greatest threats is the pet trade? 💔

Many captive parrots develop behavioural issues like feather plucking or self-mutilation due to stress and boredom. Their long lifespans often mean they outlive their owners, leading to abandonment or repeated rehoming. The pet trade fuels both illegal trafficking and the decline of wild parrots, making it one of the biggest threats to their survival.

An undercover investigation by our US office and Strategies for Ethical and Environmental Development (SEED) shows just how much suffering can occur in the pet trade and exposes the appalling conditions at US bird mills.

Would anyone have any location ideas for me to bring my popcorn machine + some piggies to host pop up events to fundraise / offer pet therapy? Lower mainland! 🙂 my popcorn maker a huge hit at the bunny events, hoping to host some more piggy ones! I’m in Surrey but anywhere lower mainland could work!

Urgent Need for Game Meat Donations

Our wild predators urgently need game meat, and we are currently running very low.

We would be so grateful for donations of elk, deer, or moose meat. We can use large unseasoned chunks of red meat, steaks, roasts, diced meat, and minced meat. Minor freezer burn is okay.

We can accept minced/ground meat, but we cannot accept pork.

Please call 604-530-2064 ext. 3 before drop-off to confirm freezer space.

💚Since we have gained a bunch of new friends on this page since we last talked about the permanent foster program , I thought what better time is there to shine the light back on what it’s all about!!

💕🐈‍⬛At Katie’s Place we take in a number of cats with special needs such as cats with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, cerebellar hyperplasia and more.

🥰One of our guiding principles at Katie’s Place is that all life is valuable, regardless of their age, looks or medical status. We believe that senior and special needs cats deserve furrever homes too !!! In an effort to help them find those homes we offer the opportunity for them to be permanently fostered out. This means that we cover medical expenses related to the cat’s care, with the condition that they are brought to our vets.

🏡Our permanent foster cats go to carefully vetted homes where they will get the care and attention they need!! Not all of our cats are eligible for this program. If you are an experienced cat owner with love to give, feel free to reach out and enquire about some of our permanent foster eligible cats.

Does anyone have interest in foster or adopting a 5+yo female to join your herd or solo girl? She just lost her mate and is getting depressed. On surrender list, trying to make a plan for her. Needs a female buddy and likely a vet check up that I can arrange.

Please don’t dump pets! Consider adopting these adorable boys

Meet Daryl & Dean!

These handsome gentlemen were sadly left at the shelter’s front door in a laundry basket, but they are now safe, healthy, and ready to find a loving home together. Estimated to be around 1.5 years old, this adorable duo has already been seen by the vet and received a clean bill of health.

Dean is the black pig sporting what can only be described as a glorious “business in the front, party in the back” mullet look, while Daryl is the ruggedly handsome long-haired grey gentleman. Together, they are the ultimate pig duo with charm, personality, and plenty of good looks to go around.

Like most pigs, these boys can be a little shy at first, but with patience, love, and fear-free handling, they have so much potential to grow in confidence. They are very food motivated (snacks are definitely the way to their hearts). Dean is the braver of the two and helps reassure Daryl that everything is okay — it’s very sweet to watch their bond together.

If you’re interested in giving these boys the loving home they deserve, please fill out an adoption application today and send along a photo of your housing setup.

Adoption fee for the pair: $50 + tax.

Come meet Daryl & Dean — two rugged little gentlemen looking for their forever home together!

Very blessed to know such amazing animal rehabbers / rescue folk! This baby pigeon woukd have surely been euthanized at the wildlife organization the finder planed to bring it to.

The wildlife places have limited resources and not all have the manpower/funds to rehab severe injuries especially in feral pigeons that are regarded as pests by many people, so humane euthanasia isn’t necessarily the wrong option. But I always like to try to give animals a chance before resorting to it.

Luckily the finder was open to letting me try to find an experienced pigeon rehabber to try to give it a chance at survival, and was able to drop it off to me. Shortly later my pigeon rehab oak was able to collect it and noted it was still a baby that ‘peeped’! This is what they said

““Soooo so far I can tell you that this bird is probably about 4 weeks old, it was still being fed by its (usually) Dad because it still has a lot of milk in its crop, its good condition and hydrated, and no fractures (except potentially skull)””

Sending positive healing vibes to Little Peep 🐥

if you find a pigeon in distress around the lower mainland Vancouver area send me a dm and I’ll see if I can network he’ll
