For the many people aware of the bunny seen running around Robson Square in downtown Vancouver the past few weeks, she's now safe -- but she came with a surprise. Robson Square is the area housing the courthouse and art gallery in the middle of the city. It has a lot of public spaces but not a lot of edible vegetation and no grass. What there is is scattered over a fairly large area on multiple levels with steep slopes, lots of stairs and ledges overlooking the downtown roads. Some kind humans were feeding her, but she was impossible to catch. Our trapping crew headed out there Tuesday night as a courtesy to another rescue who had a foster lined up. After a couple of unsuccessful hours, we were shocked to see a couple of little tiny babies come out of some vines! It was obviously a job for our big guns, so we called Brittney who came out with Nicole just as it was getting dark. The nest was found on a ledge with a long drop to the road, but of course Brittney wasn't phased, she made her way there and fished out five babies! Getting mom wasn't so easy, but she and Nicole pulled an all-nighter, and caught mom early in the morning.

Two buns are better than one. 😌👯

Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie are the iconic duo you need in your life. They were miracle buns from the very start, pulled from their nest at a Steveston excavation site along with their brother, Prince.

Not only did they survive - they're thriving.

At 9-months-old, both boys are insanely energetic, bouncing off the walls for attention. They love performing for their human friends like a little circus troupe. It's no wonder they steal the hearts of everyone they meet.

Another baby rescued! Volunteer Vicky alerted us to a small black bunny in an industrial area of Mount Pleasant. Quick and elusive, this little one needed backup.

Deanna, Greg, and Brittney all joined the rescue effort. The bunny had wedged themselves into a gap beneath a garage door, behind a locked gate, of course. One hopped fence later, Brittney carefully wiggled them free and brought them to safety.

Thanks to everyone who helped with their rescue, especially Vicky, who kept eyes on them for hours until reinforcements arrived. 🤍

At least two municipalities are considering their options regarding the thousands of domestic rabbits and their feral offspring loose in their cities, and several other municipalities, including Vancouver, are seeing colonies forming with no intervention.

Congratulations to our 50/50 winner, Chris Laarz! Chris won $1,832 after purchasing the 70-ticket pack for $100 just a few hours before ticket sales closed. Rabbitats pays $486.78 in fees, deducted only from Rabbitats' half, for a take home total of $1,345.22. (Chris, who is a regular and tireless volunteer at one of our Langley microsanctuaries, has offered to split the fees with us).

Life is more fun with Butterscotch and Maple 🌼🦋

These girls were born in our care late last year; they're two of six babies, including our dearly departed Pinky. 🌈 At six months old and newly spayed, they're ready to find their forever home.

Butterscotch is the more dominant of the pair, swiping treats and hogging all the attention she can get. She's fearless and loving.

Maple is a little darling, and although less brash than Butterscotch, she's still protective of her sister. During post-op meds, Maple kept a keen eye on Butterscotch, making sure she didn't leave her sight!

During recovery, they've been extra snuggly, and it looks like their young bond has survived their spays 💛

The girls are angora-lop crosses; their fine fur needs regular maintenance, though you can trim them as we have to lessen their grooming needs.
