Looking for a Mother’s Day gift this weekend?

✨Our 4 and 8-week bouquet subscriptions deliver bouquets from our urban farm straight to your doorstep - or your mom’s - all summer long.

One cool thing about our bouquets? Our flowers are grown right here in the city, using hand tools on residential farm plots. And that means minimal fuel is used to produce and deliver our bouquets - a win-win for everyone 🌎💚

⛓️‍💥Head to www.citystreetfarms.ca for bouquets!

Really though, isn’t it cool that these were harvested 3-5 months ago, and they’ll stay this way forever (basically)?

That’s a wrap on Season One at the Community Farm (and has been for over a month but where did the time go 🤷‍♀️)

From June to September, a small group of dedicated volunteers 🌟tended to this backyard garden plot and donated over 80 hours of time 👏👨‍🌾

We harvested about 200 pounds of potatoes, carrots, yellow beans (so.many.beans😰), zucchini, beets, and squash 🥔🥕🌱- lots of which have made their way into muffins, quesadillas, and other goodies for breakfast at Thompson School through 🐯

I’d say year one was a success, all thanks to everyone who came out, donated seeds 🌱, and to the homeowners Mark & Katie and their kiddos for being a big part of the volunteer crew each week and lending out the use of this stellar garden space 🏡

We will be gardening here again next year, and are also considering a second plot - 💡if you know of a sunny, water-ready plot located in a central neighbourhood, send us a note!

The season wouldn’t be complete at City Street Farms without a few tomatoes!

From our very first season, our tomatoes 🍅 were one of the crops that set us apart and kept people coming back to our market stall, and later to our weekly 🛍️ Harvest Boxes and bulk tomato orders.

Miranda was the one with the passion🧡 for all things tomato, and introduced me & all of you to the famous Nonna tomato - our biggest one weighing in at over 🙀 3 pounds!

Although the farm focused on cut flowers this year as I navigated the first growing season on my own, I knew I wanted at least a few Nonna plants in my own front yard veggie patch 🤫

A big part of growing these tomatoes is also about seed saving 🌱- another important skill that Miranda shared with me and that has become a central farming practice as I work to build a hardy, well-rounded farm with a closed-loop 👍👍👍system wherever possible.

Have you been saving your Nonna seeds over the years? ✨
