Matt and I lost our beautiful girl on Thursday night to bloat (GVD). Thankfully I had heard of bloat before and knew some of the signs and we got her to the vet quickly. Unfortunately, her prognosis was not good and the surgery ranged from $7,000-$10,000 and is not guaranteed in any way, shape, or form. We had to make the extremely difficult desicion to let our baby go.
Know the signs and symptoms - every second counts - if you're not sure, seek emergency medical care anyways!
Take precautions by feeding them smaller, more frequent meals, use slow-feeder bowls, and restrict strenuous activity for at least an hour before and after eating.
Be aware of the costs associated with sudden illness and life or death emergencies.
Our hearts are very heavy. Mable was the love of our life and we will miss her forever π.
