One of the things I teach my photography students is to be ready for anything. There are times that we contrive the perfect shot and put a lot of effort into the set up and orchestration of our vision. There are other times that we happen to be in the right place at the right time with our camera in our hand. And when that happens, we need to be so attuned to our camera and settings that we can capture the moment skillfully - without any warning.

Tonight I got put to the test. We were shooting still silhouettes of our clients on horseback at sunset (I know, right, I have the "worst" job ever. haha) when all of a sudden, the nearby herd of horses came running through the field. I had one chance to get the shot and here it is.

These are the moments that take our breath away and remind us how incredible it is to be alive in this beautiful world!
