IS YOUR FEED GUARANTEED MED-FREE??

I haven't shared this one for a while, but it is something to always be thinking about when selecting a feed. Ionophores like monensin or brand name rumensin occur in feeds for livestock such as poultry and cattle, but are highly toxic to horses. Remember just a year ago when the ranch in Oklahoma sadly lost over 70 horses from feed containing Ionophores.
Smaller mills or custom mills that make several types of feeds for a variety of livestock and horses are more at risk. Sourcing feeds that are produced at larger mills that are medi-free is one way to guarantee cross-contamination will not occur.
Do a little of your own research or have a read of what Buckeye has shared and the document I pulled together.
