After a decade and a half, Ferrets North is winding down operations and will be closing permanently at the end of 2023. We would like to thank all of our supporters, volunteers, donors, foster families and forever homes for helping us in our mission to improve the care received by ferrets throughout the north and B.C. as a whole. It has been challenging but rewarding work and the lives of countless animals have been improved because of your efforts.

Thank you to Bone & Biscuit for helping raise funds for us with their Christmas photo booth. With their help (and the vet completing a lot of paperwork) we were able to get Yogi an implant to help with his adrenal disease! While the implants cannot reverse the disease entirely, they certainly help manage the symptoms. You can see his hair is even starting to fill back in!

Often, when people think of rescues, they think of the rehoming aspect -happy, healthy animals heading to their new forever homes after a brief stay. Sometimes people question why rescues need to raise so much money all the time, and why they charge adoptions fees. The reality is that only some of the animals that come in are adoptable. Rescues like ours offer palliative care for animals who are very old or sick and need a lot of vet care, but still have some quality of life - we help provide them with love and the best care possible for the few years, months or weeks of their lives. These animals - during Covid - have made up the bulk of our surrenders. Caring for them is time consuming, exhausting and expensive. A heartfelt thank you from our rescue goes out to Bone & Biscuit for their help with raising funds. Without them we would not have been able to keep going. We really appreciate you guys and all you do for rescues

A heartfelt thank you to Bone & Biscuit Prince George who have raised over $2000 for us through their Christmas Photo campaign! With an increase in special needs surrenders, this money is very much appreciated. The money not only goes to helping pay for vet checks for new surrenders and adoptable ferrets, but to help with ongoing care for ferrets whose needs are so great they cannot be adopted. Ferrets such as Willis who is disabled and need a wheelchair and frequent vet visits to monitor his health, and Paddington who needs twice daily meds and implants to help control his condition. Bone and Biscuit has also helped us raise money for Rupert's mass removal and histopathology (here he is, living it up with the results having come back as non cancerous). Without you guys, we have no idea where we would be right now!

To keep our volunteers safe during this pandemic, we are suspending adoptions for the time being. Adoptions will reopen once it is once again safe to have our volunteers so meet and greets and home checks. Pistachio is a little bit disappointed that he won't be going to his forever home soon, but says that he understands that safety has to be first, and he is just fine living up life in his foster home until then.
