On Tuesday May 12th after twelve and a half years of owning her we said goodbye to Tess.
Tess was the first horse we owned and was the reason behind us wanting to buy land and start Valhalla Stables.
She was the first ride for many of my students and it was a privilege to share her with you all.

I am going to be hosting a beginner friendly massage and saddle fitting clinic for the gymkhana club. If any of my students are interested let me know.

On May 15 - Mary with Valhalla Stables is hosting a beginner equine massage & saddle fitting clinic! Mary is a certified Equine Sports Therapist - graduating from the BC College of Equine Sports Therapy!

With only 10 spots available you don’t wanna miss out! $50 per person/ horse pair. $20 for person only (horse can be provided if required) Registration closes May 5th @ 5pm - fee must be paid at time of booking. Bring a white or light colored sheet for the saddle fitting!

We took Zen down to the gymkhana arena today with the new truck to get her all ready for lessons. She got to run around and get all her bucks before Kurtis took her for a spin.

On Saturday February 28th we said goodbye to Corbin. After an emergency vet visit we discovered he had lung cancer.

Corbin was the best farm dog we could have ever asked for. He ensured no predators came close, told the horses off when they put their heads over the fence and most importantly chased off all the elk.

He will be dearly missed. The land won't be the same without him.

Kurtis and I are proud to introduce the newest member of Valhalla Stables, Colin-Jürgen Hunter Nimmert. Born January 7th weighing 8lbs 7ozs.

The clocks have changed and the trailer has been moved which means that riding lessons at Valhalla Stables are finished for this year.
We managed to fit in a full 27 weeks of riding. I was definitely blown away by everyone's skill and knowledge retention from the previous year and how quickly so many progressed this year.
A couple of highlights included the Salmon Valley Gymkhana Club Youth Gymkhana (thank you for the pictures) where 8 students were able to participate. All of the Friday night fun nights I was able to host and being able to take a student to a couple of jumping shows.
Thank you to everyone for making this year so great.
We will hopefully be able to start back up again in May 2026, but in the meantime I will be doing group horsemanship lessons over the winter. Parents I will be contacting you soon with all the details.

I am officially recertified as a riding instructor for another 3 years. If you ever wonder what I get up to on my days off, apart from taking care of the horses and coming up with lesson plans, it's continuing to learn through courses, webinars and clinics.
Although you do not have to be certified to teach, it was something that was incredibly important to me before I started out on my own as it held me to a high standard and continues to do so to this day.

Jasper is truly worth his weight in gold. From toting around 3 year olds to giving my mum a ride this morning. I couldn't ask for a better school horse.
Also well done to my mum. She hasn't been on a horse in a few years and has been dealing with some knee arthritis, but she was able to get on and ride the tallest horse she's ever been on. Oh and get off without too much trouble.

The field is partially hayed so of course I had to have a ride around on Tess.
I can't wait to take everyone around the field again.
