If your Bearded Dragon closes its eyes when you're around, donβt ignore it. π¦π
Many owners think it means their beardie is calm or sleepy.
But in reality, it can be a sign of stress or discomfort.
One of the most common reasons is a temperature mistake in the enclosure.
Bearded dragons depend on proper heat to digest food, stay active, and keep their immune system strong. When the basking spot is too cold or too hot, your beardie may shut its eyes as a stress response.
β οΈ Common temperature mistakes: β’ Basking spot too cool
β’ No proper heat gradient in the tank
β’ Using colored bulbs at night
β’ Incorrect thermometer placement
β
Ideal temperature guide: β’ Basking spot: 38β42Β°C (100β108Β°F)
β’ Warm side: 32β35Β°C (90β95Β°F)
β’ Cool side: 24β27Β°C (75β80Β°F)
Healthy temperatures = active, bright-eyed beardie.
Always double-check your thermometer and heating setup β a small mistake can lead to digestive issues, lethargy, and long-term health problems.
π¦ Your beardie canβt tell you something is wrong β but their behavior can.
