Let's talk adjustments!

Adjustments, or more specifically, spinal manipulative therapy, can improve joint motion, reduce pain temporarily, and help restore normal movement patterns!

ADJUSTMENTS ARE A TOOL - NOT THE WHOLE SOLUTION

They do not build strength, change long-term habits, or improve load tolerance on their own.

What you do after treatment matters just as much as the treatment itself.

When should you rest and avoid movement?

Almost never completely.

Short-term rest can help early on, but long-term rest often slows recovery.

Most tissues respond better to controlled movement and gradual loading.

Recovery is usually about finding the right dose of movement... not avoiding all movement.

Shoulder pain?

Check your upper back! If the thoracic spine lacks mobility, your shoulder can often compensate contributing to irritation during overhead movement!

Restore motion where it should happen.
Strengthen muscles to support the motion!

Things I hear everyday...

🧦It's hard to put my socks on in the morning--> often stiffness or irritation in the SI joint.
🙏My hands are numb in the morning--> do you sleep with your arm under your head?
💪My exercises make me more sore--> sometimes improper technique, usually muscle soreness due to load intolerance.

Most of the time, these are movement or habit-related- not something to panic about. Small changes usually go a long way!
