Keeping our dogs safe starts before they even walk through the door. 🐾 The health and wellbeing of every dog in my care is important to me. That’s why I ask that vaccinations are kept up to date before joining daycare and training programs.

These requirements help create a safer environment for everyone, including puppies, seniors, and dogs with different health needs.

I also ask families to provide current emergency contact information. Hopefully, I’ll never need it, but having those details on hand means I can reach you quickly if something unexpected happens.

If a dog becomes unwell while they’re with me, I will:

🐾 Contact their owner as soon as possible
🐾 Keep them comfortable and give them a calm space to rest
🐾 Follow the emergency plan provided by their family if veterinary care is needed

Clear communication helps me make the best decisions for your dog when you can’t be there.

Thank you for trusting me with your furry besties. Creating a safe, caring, and comfortable environment is something I take seriously every day. 💜🐶

Important reminder for anyone with a puppy right now. 🐾

Parvovirus is highly contagious and can be extremely serious, especially for young and unvaccinated dogs. Staying on top of the full puppy vaccine series and being mindful of where your puppy goes while they’re still building immunity is so important.

At our facility, vaccinations are mandatory for all puppies and dogs coming in. Yes, the DHPP vaccine is mandatory. One of the “P”s in DHPP is Parvovirus. 💜

It’s one of the ways we help protect every dog in our care, especially the young ones who are still building their immunity.

Take a minute to read through this important information from Gladstone Veterinary Clinic and share it with someone who has a new puppy. 💜

🚨 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐑𝐔𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄 🚨

We have seen several recent cases of canine parvovirus in the surrounding areas. This strain is highly contagious and can cause severe, life-threatening illness, especially in puppies and unvaccinated dogs.

💉 The best protection against parvo is completing the FULL puppy vaccine series.
A common misconception is that one or two vaccines provide enough protection.
❌ They don't.

✅ Puppies require a series of vaccinations, given several weeks apart, to develop reliable immunity. Protection is not complete until the entire series has been finished.

⚠️ 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐨:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea (often bloody)
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Dehydration
If your puppy develops any of these signs, seek veterinary care immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment can make all the difference.

🐾 Parvo spreads easily through infected f***s, contaminated surfaces, shoes, clothing, food bowls, and even the ground. The virus is incredibly hardy and can survive in the environment for months, making prevention especially important.

Until your puppy has completed their vaccine series:
🐶 Avoid dog parks, pet stores, daycare facilities, and other places where unknown dogs may have been.
🐶 Carry young puppies in public whenever possible.
🐶 Keep vaccine appointments on schedule.

❤️ 𝐕𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬. If your puppy is due for vaccines or you've fallen behind on their schedule, give us a call. We're happy to help get them back on track.

Such a great reminder from St. Claude Veterinary Clinic! Even with September just around the corner, we can still have some seriously hot days here in Manitoba, so it’s important to keep an eye on our animals. ☀️

Always making sure the dogs have plenty of shade and fresh water, along with frozen treats and lick mats on those hot days.

Definitely looking forward to those cooler September evenings and getting back to longer walks without the heat… or hopefully quite as many mosquitoes! 😂🍂🐾

Manitoba summers don't quit in August, and neither does the heat risk for your animals. A dog that's fine at 10am can be in real trouble by 2pm. Same goes for horses and livestock standing in a bare paddock with no shade.

Here's the fast version: pant heavier than usual, wobbly on their feet, gums that look bright red or pale, or just acting "off" in the heat? That's your sign to stop and check on them, not wait it out.

Water access matters more than people think, especially for animals on pasture. Two troughs beat one, always.

What's your go-to trick for keeping animals cool this time of year? Tell us below, we might steal it. 😉
