🚨 Bella’s Life-Saving Surgery 🚨
Bella, a sweet 12-year-old Maltese mix, came to us weak, feverish, and refusing to eat.
Tests revealed pyometra — a dangerous infection of the uterus that can be fatal within days.

🩺 Emergency surgery was her only chance, and thanks to quick action and intensive care, Bella is now on the road to recovery.
✅ The best prevention? Spaying before the first heat — it can truly save a life.

💙 We’re so proud of Bella’s strength and her family’s fast response!"

🛁 Can You Bathe Your Pet Too Often? Yes!

At Pocowest Animal Hospital, we often get asked how often pets should be bathed — and the truth is, more isn't always better.

🚿 Bathing your pet too frequently can:

Strip away natural oils

Dry out their skin

Lead to irritation or even infections

✅ Instead, here’s what we recommend:

Dogs: Once every 4–6 weeks (or as advised for their breed/skin condition)

Cats: Only when necessary — most groom themselves well!

Always use vet-approved shampoos (never human products!)

🐶 Not sure what's best for your furry friend? We're here to help!
📞 Call us or stop by for personalized grooming advice.

✨ Keep them clean, but keep their skin happy too!

🐾 Did You Know? 🐾
Summer is here — and so are the hidden dangers for our furry family members! ☀️🐶🐱

Here at Poco West Animal Hospital, we want to help keep your pets happy, healthy, and safe all season long. Here are a few quick summer safety tips every pet parent should know:

✅ Hydration is Key – Make sure your pets always have access to fresh, cool water. Dehydration can sneak up fast in warmer weather!

🚗 Never Leave Pets in Cars – Even a few minutes in a parked car can be life-threatening. Interior temperatures can soar in seconds — even with windows slightly open.

🐾 Hot Pavement Alert – If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! Try early morning or late evening walks to avoid burns.

🌼 Beware of Toxic Plants & Insects – Lilies, certain mushrooms, and some bugs (like bees and wasps) can pose serious risks. Not sure if something is safe? Give us a call.

😎 Heatstroke Can Happen Fast – Watch for heavy panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting. If you notice any of these signs, call us immediately!

Say Ahhh! Dental Health Matters for Cats Too! 🐱🩺

Here's Dr. Saeid Arefi performing a dental check-up on one of our furry patients. Did you know that over 70% of cats show signs of dental disease by the age of 3? Regular oral exams and dental cleanings can prevent pain, infection, and long-term health issues. 🪥✨

🐾 Signs your cat may need a dental check-up:
✔️ Bad breath
✔️ Drooling
✔️ Difficulty eating
✔️ Swollen or bleeding gums

Dental care isn’t just for people—it’s essential for pets too! Call us today to schedule a dental consultation:

🐶🐱 Sudden Weakness or Collapse in Pets — Don't Wait, Act Fast! 🚨

If your pet suddenly becomes weak, wobbly, or collapses, it could signal a serious medical emergency such as:

-Internal bleeding
-Heart disease
-Low blood sugar
-Toxin ingestion
-Neurological issues

These symptoms may come on without warning and require immediate veterinary attention.

Don't wait and see. Even if your pet seems to recover quickly, there may be an underlying issue that needs urgent care.
