It’s dahlia tuber sale time again🎉. 9 am - 2pm. Saturday, April 18th, 6000 Strathcona Street, Port Alberni.
Dozens of great cutting varieties to choose from as well as an assortment of hard to find and ‘collector’ types.
If you’ve been purchasing summer bouquets from Naesgaard's Farm & Market you will know how nice these are in bouquets. I’m also hoping to offer a few varieties at Leave Her Wild Container Design but need to talk to Shayla as this would be a trial for this year😊

Dahlia tuber sales coming up on Vancouver Island: April 4th Black Creek, Royston on April 11, Nanaimo and Victoria April 18th.
I’m limiting myself to the Black Creek sale and will then have my own sale in Port Alberni at the end of April and early May. Some tubers will be potted while others will be sprouted in bags and ready to plant. Happy gardening everyone.

ROYSTON OR BUST! Loaded up the wagon with about 40 boxes and heading over to the North Vancouver Island Dahlia sale at Royston Community Hall. The sale is Saturday, April 12th from 9 to noon.

Another successful trip to the Pacific Northwest Flower and Garden Show. We were checking out the floor plan the night before the show opened and a kind security guard gave each of us a worker’s pass. It allowed us to wander freely throughout most of the exhibits. Instead of shoulder to shoulder crowds there was almost no one in sight. What an absolute treat!
Spring flowers here I come!

Now is the time to force some flowering branches like Forsythia, fruit trees (especially peach), magnolia, current, etc. In less than a week they'll be blooming and you‘d never know it was -8°C outside.

Heading to Seedy Saturday tomorrow at Echo Centre from 10 AM until 2 PM. There will be small bouquets combined with bunny tail grass and other assorted dried material. Also a small sampling of dahlia tubers but orders are welcome. Hang in there - gardening seaside just around the corner. Oh yeah, I’ll have an assortment of high-quality seed starting trays and humidity domes too.

Taking a break now to visit a few botanical gardens. The Azores, an archipelago about 2000 km southeast of Nova Scotia is my latest adventure. Located on the mid Atlantic Ridge and in the Gulf Stream. The weather is warm and plants grow as if they’re growing in a greenhouse. It’s quite humid here and my hair shows it!! The following photos are from Terre Nostre Botanical Park on Sao Miguel Island. The rest are remnants of volcanic activity on the islands.
