My heart is absolutely bursting with pride and excitement for our girl 🫶🏼
Sunday night, Marty and I headed off to the Calgary Stampede Qualifier with no expectations of moving on — just excited for the experience and to see where Marty and her horses would stack up against some super tough competition.
Yesterday, Marty was pretty nervous on Sargent, and it showed with a 17.4. Peppy ran a solid 17.2.
Today, Rebecca told her to “ride like your hair is on fire” — and she did just that 🔥
Peppy laid down another 17.2 on the bottom of the ground, and we knew Sargent had more speed to show. He showed up today too, running a 16.8 on the bottom of the ground to place 5th in Round 2!
Marty’s two combined times landed her 7th in the aggregate, with only the top 3 advancing. BUT there was a showdown round where the fastest run would move on… so do we take a chance and enter???
I called Wade and Rebecca, and they both said, “Absolutely!”
We could not be more proud of Marty. She shook off a whole lot of nerves and rode both horses so beautifully 🥹
Peppy ran another 17.2, and Sargent came in with fire. With Marty’s help, he flew to a 16.67 to finish 5th in the Showdown!!
She may not have qualified, but seeing her name among these incredible ladies in the Top 5 is more than I ever could’ve imagined all those years ago when she first started riding. And to be doing it on our own horses makes it that much more special ❤️
So incredibly proud of you, Marty. Your grit, heart, and determination showed this week
