A Friendly Reminder,

To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all furry clients, any dog found to have fleas during their grooming appointment will need to go home and receive proper treatment before Grooming can continue. Thank you so much for your understanding and helping keep everyone happy and Flea Free!

Flea Facts:
Fleas lay their eggs in the fur of dogs and cats. As the animal moves around—like shaking salt—the eggs fall into the environment. These eggs can survive on the ground, waiting for the right warm, wet conditions to hatch. Once they hatch, the young fleas seek out animals or people to jump onto.

When fleas bite, they suck blood. If an animal has a heavy infestation, it can lose a lot of blood and develop anemia. This condition makes the animal weak, tired, and in severe cases, it can even be fatal.

Just Like Ticks, Fleas can be treated with a vet approved medication!

While we love spring for the warmer weather and sunnier days, it also likes to bring with it a bit more rain…and more puddles! When your pet is outside, keep them from drinking stagnant water or puddles. Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection spread through the urine of infected wildlife that is often found in water and soil. The bacteria can live for days in its environment and cause severe illness for your pet. Feel free to reach out to us for more information about how to protect your pet.

It’s the season of the ticks! Or whatever Noah Kahan was singing about! 🤦‍♀️

Now that we’re in spring weather, I’m seeing alot of these unwanted travelers back in action.

Here is some info on some tick checkpoints for your pup. When looking for them on your pets, make sure to do a thorough check on yourself as well.

Vet approved Flea and Tick medicine is the best way to go about avoiding these guys!

❄️Winter With a matted dog? concerned your pup will be cold with a haircut?

While Everyday brushing/combing is extremely encouraged to help maintain a longer coat over the winter- (Some believe a hair cut = a short cut, with proper at home maintenance it can totally be kept long!)
BUT just like the summer, spring and fall, dogs can be faced with matting.
“Won’t my dog be cold if you shave its matt’s during the winter months?”
Groomer Terrie Crawford in Hamilton, found research from a Guelph University study in the 90’s on two dogs to find ; Was the matted/pelted dog or the shaved dog warmer?

The shaved dog was warmer!
Being matted allowed the cold air to be trapped between the matting/the skin which does not allow the dog to properly regulate temperature,leaving the poor matted pup colder for longer, where the shaved dog was able to keep regulated, heat up faster and stay warmer longer! Pretty neat eh?😁❄️
