We’re Hiring! | Kennel Attendant / Dog Care Technician

Black Hill Dog Company is growing, and we’re looking for a dedicated, hardworking individual to join our team!

What we’re looking for:
• Passion for animal care—our dogs always come first.
• Reliable, motivated, and committed to a long-term position.
• Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments—from social butterflies to behavioural cases.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required.
• Experience with dogs is an asset, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person!

Daily responsibilities include:
🐶 Feeding and daily husbandry
🧼 Cleaning and maintaining a safe, sanitary facility
🚶 Exercise and enrichment
💊 Monitoring health and administering medications as directed
🦴 Assisting with the daily care of dogs in training, boarding, and our breeding program

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is watching dogs gain confidence, develop new skills, and strengthen their relationship with their owners. Even more rewarding is hearing from families who are able to see and feel that transformation in their everyday lives.

From pre-puppy planning to boarding, day training, and ongoing support, our goal has always been to provide more than just dog training. We strive to give owners the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to continue building success long after their dog leaves our care.

Thank you to Kali’s family for trusting us with her training journey and for taking the time to share your experience. Watching her confidence grow has been an absolute pleasure, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next.

🚨PSA🚨

Summers here, theres more people out and about with there dogs and that’s awesome! What’s not awesome is leaving your two dogs outside foodland taking up 3/4 of the sidewalk. I watched this force people to walk into the road, and children nervous to approach. Your dogs clearly have great impulse control and I commend you for that, especially if you are a client of mine! BUT, next time you need to leave your dogs unattended, please consider people who may have a fear of dogs (maybe they were bitten as a kid, or maybe it’s an elderly person nervous of getting startled or jumped on). Consider the child who may out of the blue run up and touch your dog who could get startled and react in a way you’ve never seen before (because remember, these are living creatures with emotions and are allowed to express them when uncomfortable). Or finally, consider the person who has no choice but to bring their dogs through this tiny corridor on the sidewalk you created, or bring the dog into the road.
Thankfully the dog I was walking has been in our board and train program and he is nice and neutral to these types of scenarios, but please be considerate of others.
