Molly is a happy-go-lucky, spirited dane. She is almost 6 years old but you'd never know it based on her energy. Molly is deaf but she doesn't let her disability get in her way. She loves to go for walks and to spend time with her favourite people. Molly is a typical velcro dane and she enjoys a lot of lap-time with (on) her humans. She is very affectionate and prefers to be close to and/or touching her humans so she knows where they are in the absence of being able to listen for them. She is happy to be independent but will do a tour of the house in regular intervals to do a head count of her family members before going back to napping or basking in the sun. Molly is slow-to-warm in a new household but she attaches strongly once her anxiety decreases. She does experience a lot of separation anxiety but can be left “alone” (with her dog sibling) in her foster house with no issues (unless there is food left out at counter height or below!). Molly has mixed emotions about other dogs. She does feel more secure with another dog in the home and present in the absence of her humans but she has also
displayed aggression toward other dogs including her housemates. Therefore we are looking for Molly to be the ONLY dog in her forever home.
Molly is very bright and quick to pick up on new routines. Molly understands basic hand signals and also wears a vibrating collar for the purpose of redirection and/or gaining her attention. She is a very good “listener” with hand signals and her collar. Molly has shown to be very well-tempered around all new people.
Molly would likely thrive the most in a home where her caregiver(s) are home the majority of the time and where she is the only dog/pet. Molly has also shown significant interest in small animals in and around the property of her foster parents' home (prey drive). She requires a family who can be patient and understanding as she learns how to be her best self.
Molly is looking for the right family to join. She is deaf and has some visual impairment and has been working on sign language in her foster home. If you have previous deafy experience, please consider this loving girl, that needs a knowing hand. If you have the time to invest, you will reap the benefits of adding this sweet girl to your family. Slow and steady, with minimal distractions for the first few months, will be key for the best outcome for her.
If you don't have deafy experience, please consider sharing Molly's post and help her find her forever. ❤
